If you’ve been into MTV from the late 90s to the late 2000s and you weren’t there solely for the music videos, you’ve probably enjoyed a little show called Celebrity Deathmatch.

For those who aren’t familiar with the show, it is a claymation parody series that pitted different celebrities into a, well, deathmatch.

In a way, it looked like a professional wrestling match among celebrities that, more often than not, ended in a gruesome death of one or both participants.

Recently, MTV Studios announced that it will be reviving the show.

Ice Cube will serve as the star and executive producer of the show. The show’s original executive producer, Eric Fogel, will still serve as one of the executive producers of the reimagined version.

Celebrity Deathmatch premiered on MTV in 1998. The series ended in 2007 after 93 episodes.

A reboot of the show was announced in 2015 but it didn’t push through.
