The thriller film is the country’s official entry for the Oscars next year. The Oscars, also known as the Academy Awards, is deemed as one of the most prestigious events in the entertainment industry where distinguished actors and actresses are awarded for their outstanding performances in the films entered in the competition.
The official Facebook page of the film revealed the news just recently on their Wall.

The film has received awards including Best Picture (Asian Future Competition 29th Tokyo International Film Festival) and CJ Entertainment Award (Asian Project Market, Busan International Film Festival 2015), according to the official Facebook page of the film.
Produced by TBA Productions (they also produced 2015 PH historical Biopic Heneral Luna), the flm was directed by Mikhail Red. who also wrote the screenplay with his cousin, Rae Red. The film stars The film introduces newbie actress Mary Joy Apostol and stars veteran actors John Arcilla, Ku Aquino and Arnold Reyes.
‘Birdshot’ is “a coming-of-age thriller that tells the story of a young farm girl who wanders off into a Philippine forest reserve. Deep within the reservation she mistakenly shoots and kills a critically endangered and protected Philippine Eagle. As the local authorities begin a manhunt to track down the poacher of a national bird, their investigation leads them to an even more horrific discovery”, according to their Facebook page.
The film was also an entry to the 2017 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
