ENTERTAINMENT: Australian Award-Giving Body Nominates ‘Birdshot’ for Best Asian Film

With the film’s interesting premise, Mikhail Red’s ‘Birdshot’ thriller got a new nomination from the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) for Best Asian Film.

Birdshot Best Asian Film Award Nomination

‘Birdshot,’ which already won Best Picture in Tokyo, Japan and Entertainment Award in Busan, South Korea, is said to be “a coming of age thriller that tells a story of a young farm girl who…mistakenly shoots and kills a critically endangered and protected Philippine Eagle.”

Late last month, the film was announced as the country’s official entry for next year’s Oscars under the Foreign Language Film category. This time, it is said to be competing against nine other films from India, China, South Korea, and Japan for AACTA’s inaugural Best Asian Film award.

The awards ceremony is set to happen on December 6 this year in Sydney, Australia.
