Warning: Season 7 spoilers ahead.
The Game of Thrones season 7 finale was chock-full of action and intense revelations, all condensed in 81 minutes. Yet perhaps most striking about the seventh episode was that we finally got to see some Dany-Jon time. Daenerys and Jon finally gave in to the sexual tension that was being built up all season, and on a boat en route to the North, no less.
Of course, that scene didn’t come without its #awkward moment. While Daenerys and Jon were getting it on, meanwhile, Bran, the Three-Eyed-Raven, had just revealed that Jon was the legitimate son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, making him –gulp– the nephew of Daenerys.
So what did Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington have to say about the scene?
Given the recent revelation of the characters’ familial ties, the two actors admitted that they practically gagged at the thought of their characters being related to each other:
“For us actors, it’s just weird – the reality of what they are to each other. The reality of what they are to each other, I don’t know how that’s going to… arrrghhh might be the reaction.”
“I like looking at her and going, oh god, I’m sorry. Let’s do it again. I think they both know it’s wrong. I think they both know it’s going to cause problems. But it’s that thing, when you suddenly feeling that deeply about someone and you go through those events together. It’s like a runaway train, you can’t stop it from happening.”
Poor Emilia and Jon! Although, we can’t say we didn’t enjoy the characters’ chemistry.
