Easy, Breezy, Beach-Front Living: The Momo Beach House Experience in Bohol #MyMomo

There’s a place at the opposite side of Panglao island where the going is easy, days are lazy, and time almost slows down to a halt. Unlike Alona’s lively bar-strewn west beach scene, this part of the island is quieter and calmer; where you are left to go about your day at your own pace and shamelessly set aside all plans or itineraries. It’s the perfect place to literally and figuratively “get away from it all.” This is Momo Beach House in Bohol, a beach-front boutique resort that breaks down your vacation experience to a bare (but stunning) minimum of sun, sand and sea – essentially all you really need for an awesome holiday.

Eat, Play, Love

I absolutely loveeed their distressed wood furniture matched with printed throw pillows! So fresh!

The moment you step walk into Momo’s al fresco lounge/dining area and take in the salty sea air, your body instantly switches on vacation mode. You are welcomed by wide open spaces, rows of coconut trees, and an inviting view of the sea just beyond the pool area – all these working together to gear your senses up for  a relaxing stay.

Hammock life!

Breakfast at Momo’s Beach Tree Cafe

Momo’s humble beach house setting appears to be a far cry the fancy designer resorts of Alona’s more popular end, but I personally find its simplicity absolutely refreshing! All rooms offer direct access to the pool which in turn opens up to the beach, hammocks by the pool are readily available for an afternoon nap, Wi-Fi access is available at their lounge area, and their Beach Tree Cafe holds Happy Hour every day from 5pm-7pm! Even their food gets an A+ on our book for being so yummy. What more could you possibly need?

Super loved our room’s punchy bright aquamarine walls and sea-shell night lamps.

Our room had a flat screen cable TV too

Bathroom had fresh towels, hot and cold showers, and organic lemongrass-scented shower gels!

While we’ve mentioned Momo deducing the vacation experience down to its bare essentials, they sure didn’t cut back on comfort! Our room was spacious enough for a group of three, with a comfy queen-sized bed and an extra day bed, with wide windows flanking two corners of the room to lets lots of sunlight in. It was sparsly decorated, but again, had everything we could possibly need. We had cable TV, highly functional air conditioning, a sitting area, storage space for clothes, and hot and cold showers. I especially loved our room’s overall shabby-chic look – lots of white, accentuated with distressed wood furniture, sea shell night lamps, and bold blue walls. Momo Beach house definitely lives up to its eco-chic boutique resort concept.

Getting acquainted with one of the locals

And you don’t even have to worry about running out of stuff to do when you get bored! Momo Beach House offers complimentary use of paddle boards and kayaks for guests. After breakfast, most of our mornings were spent lazily lying in the hammocks, while afternoons had us admiring the sunset on the beach. Momo’s beach area opens up to a in incredibly clear view of a 5-ft deep reef just a beyond the shore, and we practically spent an entire afternoon paddling around it, scoping the bottom for fishes, giant sea urchins, and colorful starfish. Momo Beach House also offers an array of guided tours which include island hopping around Bohol, a snorkeling trip at Balicasag, and trips to popular Bohol destinations such as the Chocolate Hills. They also offer complimentary transfers to Alona beach. Just ask any of the staff to know more.
