Duterte: Code alert raised to Code Red Sublevel 2, Metro Manila under quarantine

BREAKING: Metro Manila will be placed on lockdown for a minimum of 30 days to try and contain the spread of COVID-19. Because of this, land, domestic sea, and domestic air travel will be suspended starting March 15th, President Duterte said in a press conference on Thursday, March 12th. He announced this after informing everyone that the alert has been raised to Code Red Sublevel 2.

Duterte called for a community quarantine for all of Metro Manila. Public transportation, such as the LRT and MRT will continue operations following social distancing procedures.

He has also announced that classes will continue to be suspended until April 12th: “All students shall continue to fulfill their educational requirements during said period,” he said.

President Duterte also advises against mass gatherings, whether planned or spontaneous.
