Drug-Involved Cops Ignore 48-Hour Ultimatum To Surrender

Policemen suspected of acting as accomplices to drug rings have apparently ignored a 48-hour ultimatum given to them by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to resign or be targeted by the war on drugs, according to local reports.

The deadline for the ultimatum set by national police director General “Bato” dela Rosa will expire on Monday, according to the PNP.

After assuming office, Dela Rosa targeted in his speech corrupt policemen, especially those belonging to the so-called “ninja group” that recycles confiscated drugs, saying that they must “surrender in 48 hours or die.”

Dela Rosa said that he is giving these corrupt officers 48 hours to surrender and reveal all information on drugs, otherwise, “Mag-AWOL (absence without leave) na lang kayo at mag-full-time drug lord na lang at makipag-giyera na lang kayo sa amin,” according to him.

The PNP is also currently waiting for the results of the surprise drug tests conducted on senior officials at Camp Crame, and that results will be made available to the public after they receive them from the PNP Crime Laboratory.
