DLSU-D Hosts AUYS 2017

This January 2017, more than 120 youth participants from the Southeast Asia will be joining together for the ASEAN University Youth Summit 2017 or #AUYS2017. With the theme “ASEAN Youth: Advocate of Environmental Sustainability,” the summit will be an avenue to discuss the state of the environment in ASEAN and its biodiversity, the issue and challenges of climate change, and capacity building on youth engagement and environmental education. The event will be on January 9-13, 2017 at De La Salle University – Dasmariñas in Cavite, Philippines.

It aims to promote the role of ASEAN youths in pushing forward for the integration of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community especially on Environmental Sustainability. Likewise, it will also empower the participants to realize the importance of their capacity to be agents of sustainable environment, create the opportunity for learning and exchanging each ASEAN nations’ cultures, knowledge and personal experiences thru the different activities of the summit.

Philippines was chosen to host the third AUYS in coinciding with the Chairmanship of Philippines in the ASEAN Summit and its 50th anniversary. The first summit was held in University Utara Malaysia (UUM) with the theme “Forging 1-ASEAN Youth Network through Volunteerism” while the second summit was held in Sumbawa University of Technology (UTS) in Indonesia with the theme “Social Entrepreneurship as a Main Character of Future ASEAN Generation”.

The #AUYS2017 is co-presented by the De La Salle University-Dasmariñas thru the Social Sciences Department of College of Liberal Arts and Communication, Bridging the Gaps Organization-Philippines, I Am S.A.M. Foundation and Shell Foundation. It is also supported by the Provincial Government of Cavite, The National Economic and Development Authority, The Climate Reality Project-Philippines, Faber-Castell, and Wheninmanila.com
