We all know Jennifer Lawrence didn’t get to play the role of Serena van der Woodsen in “Gossip Girl,” but the show’s creator revealed that the “mother!” star did want the part and even auditioned when she was a teen, only to get her heart broken.
In a recent interview with an entertainment news site, screenwriter and television producer Josh Schwartz shared that the now 27-year-old actress really wanted to play Serena and was bummed not to get it at the age of 16.
Apparently, Schwartz didn’t know this at the time and the story only came to him secondhand, which makes this sad news a little bearable to fans of Lawrence. The actress did get her break three years later in the 2010 film “Winter’s Bone.”
And, of course, while Lawrence didn’t make it, we did get to see Blake Lively as a wealthy socialite on the popular CW series for six seasons and we couldn’t be any happier about it.
