The nature of spaces tends to be inconspicuous, which is why there is a tendency for people to overlook its significance. However, a good interior can make or break the memory of a spatial experience. The student organization, UP Design Core, understands the significance of designers in exploring the use of spaces.
UP Design Core is the organization that caters exclusively to the BS Interior Design students of the University of the Philippines Diliman. Now in its 42nd year, UP Design Core has been holding events that aim to raise awareness about the Interior Design profession and promote the creation of meaningful interiors.
With this in mind, the organization is launching the rebranding of their annual major event, now to be known as Design Dialogues. This 2018, the seminar is entitled “Experiencing Design.” It will tackle experiential design, which involves producing a meaningful user experience through spatial and design strategies. Experiencing Design will discuss how spaces can function in different contexts through the eyes of various professionals.
This year’s line of esteemed speakers includes Frenjick Quesada, the principal Interior Designer of Design Hariyama + Quesada, event designer Zenas Pineda of Zenas Pineda & Co., Mio Infante, the president of Sceneshop, and to be moderated by Dr. Adelaida Mayo, a senior BS Interior Design professor in UP Diliman.
The event is made possible in cooperation with SM Prime Holdings Inc., SMX, Quench2O, Ka Idro’s Bakery, Gourmet Chef Manila, Uratex, Rain Or Shine, Focus Global Inc., and Orange Segment. Also by Rob & Mara, Contract Design, and HUROM.
This is in partnership with UPSIDE, UST Interior Design Innovators (UST IDi), UST Haus Industriél Design (UST HID), PUP – Students’ Integrated League of Interior Design (PUP – SILID), UST CFAD Student Council, CSB Social and Academic Guild for Architecture (CSB SAGA), UP Space, and Architectural Students’ Association of the Philippines – UP Chapter (ASAPHIL – UP).
Design Dialogues: Experiencing Design will be held on March 3, 2018 (Saturday), at SMX Aura Convention Center, Function Room 3, 8 McKinley Parkway, Taguig, Metro Manila from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
