Recently, a story about Nickelodeon planning to build an underwater theme park in Palawan went viral on social media.
Environmentalists were alarmed by this such that they instantly launched a petition to counter this plan. Anna Oposa of Save Philippine Seas created a petition that calls the local government of Palawan to “junk the plans.”
Now, Department of Environment and Natural Resources secretary Gina Lopez said via tweet that she will not allow this to happen.

According to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development, the project had yet to be approved.
