Fresh from our loss at the recent miss Universe 2014, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BPCI) is already looking for its contestants for Bb. Pilipinas 2015 to send out to the international pageants. Thirty-four beautiful Filipinas have already been chosen to possibly represent the country on an international stage, but one deaf contestant was allegedly asked to resign from the competition. However, it was not revealed why she was forced to resign.

The contestant, Christine Balaguer, said that she was asked by BCPI to resign, and that she felt depressed after. According to her:

It’s my big dream to be the first deaf candidate to win Bb. Pilipinas!

Being born deaf is not the end of the world. It’s a challenge but also an opportunity. An opportunity to be able to set a positive example for others that despite being deaf, they can still achieve their dreams and contribute to society in a meaningful manner. And be successful!

Life as a deaf [person] can be hard sometimes, but all hardship can be overcome by working hard, never giving up, and always believing in yourself.

Being deaf is not an excuse for giving up in life or making mistakes in life.

I want to inspire other handicapped people and encourage them to take life in their own hands and always move forward no matter what.

I’m very sorry about the BPCI making me resign so I’m very depressed.  Even I pray to God!

Christine was replaced by Cannielle Faith Santos from Marilao, Bulacan. However, it’s worth noting that Christine is not the only contestant replaced. Kimberle Mae Penchon was also replaced in the competition by Maolin Yalung.

Last year, Christine placed in the Top 10 of the Miss World Philippines 2014.
