DC Defy Convention Tour 2014 in Manila

Taking on the globe with its battle cry of defying convention, DC hosts annual skate tours together with its roster of DC athletes. With the success of last year’s installment, DC Shoes is set to return to the Philippines – bringing in nine global athletes for its DC DEFY CONVENTION SOUTHEAST ASIA TOUR 2014.
With stops in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Jakarta, the DC Skate Tour will be dropping by in Manila with an autograph signing and a skate exhibition session on November 5, 2014 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
The tour will give the pro’s a chance to get up close and personal with the fans they’ve inspired through this event. A heavy hitting team of some of the world’s most promising skateboarders, DC Skate Tour will be brining in Matt Miller, Wes Kremer, Evan Smith, Felipe Gustavo, Cyril Jackson, Madars Apse, Tommy Fynn, Kota Ikeda, and Bobby de Keyzer. The demo is bound to take on a different personality as the DC team enjoys thrashing the custom-built skate park.
Anticipating the DC DEFY CONVENTION TOUR 2014, Sammy Gosling, DC South East Asia Marketing Executive stated, “Skateboarding in South East Asia is taking off and the skate community is becoming increasingly global due to social media. The local skate communities follow the global athletes such as Matt Miller, Wes Kremer and Evan Smith so it is great for them to get an opportunity to mingle with them in the flesh. By continuing to invest in the development of skateboarding in the region, we hope to see a skater from South East Asia rise to the top of the world’s skateboard rankings in the future.”
True enough, it is through events such as this that DC aspires to empower the skateboarding community to keep on skating and leveling up their game. Who knows, a Filipino skater born and bred in our streets may just emerge from the ground up and onto the podiums in skateboarding competitions all over the world.
