When In Manila, troubled by day to day dilemmas of on-the-go women who have little to no time at all for their fitness, having to channel multi-faceted lifestyles of being homemakers and running a career. All it takes is 30 minutes of circuit training 3 times a week in CURVES fitness club in Serendra.
I’ve recently started this fascinating new fitness regime. Time to get back into shape especially for summer.
Curves is a fitness facility specially designed for women featuring a 30-minute workout and weight management program that is fast, fun and safe.
Curves works because it gives you a complete cardio and strength-training workout where you can burn up to 500 calories every time. The circuit is made up of resistance machines that work every major muscle group, two muscles at a time. And with a circuit coach to teach and motivate, you’re sure to reach your fitness goals in no time. Whether you want to lose weight and inches, gain energy or tone up, the Curves circuit will work for you.
I was very puzzled at first actually I’ve never been in a gym like this! I’ve tried numerous physical activities such as yoga and other cardiovascular work outs that involves machines.
When I was talking to our fitness coach during our assessment, we were talking about why I gained. My heaviest was 170lbs when I was 13 years old. Imagine a 5 foot 13 year old girl weighing the average weight of a full grown man! Though, through my change of lifestyle I dropped 70lbs within 8 months. My lightest was 98lbs which was also NOT HEALTHY. My target weight should be around 120lbs. I dropped my healthy habits and gained half of what I lost. So now it’s back to changing my bad habits for good!
The problem with me was I did 80% nutrition and only 20% exercise. These should be 50-50. Also, the kind of exercise that I was doing was purely CARDIO. It did allow me to lose weight BUT it was hard to maintain it. Because I did not do strength training. I didn’t build up muscle. Building muscle is the easiest way to make your metabolism FAST. Metabolism is the amount of calories you burn while you are at rest muscle makes your metabolism faster, so that’s burning calories while you’re sitting or sleeping. That made weight gain easier for me.
What’s good about circuit training is as I’ve said, its a combination of strength and cardio which will surely not just make you lose weight but maintain it when you’ve reached your goal!
This is how circuit training works:
First, get on the board and do any aerobic activity. May it be dancing, jumping or jogging in place. There is continuous music playing and you will hear a voice over saying to get to your next station which is the machine on your right. Hop on it stay there for 30 seconds. So basically, every station is 30 seconds. These machines will target major muscles on your body and I was seriously SWEATING! Our instructor was so candid and funny that I really did enjoy my session.
Every round, the voice over will tell you to stop what you’re doing though continuously move your hips and never completely stop, and check your pulse. You have to reach a certain number.
They have locker rooms, showers etc. & That’s your ID! Cool. Also, they have a “Bragging rights” wall. Members post how much they’ve lost and I saw one who lost 18 inches!
So When In Manila, have a go at Circuit training at CURVES located in Serendra, BGC, Taguig and loose weight, have fun and stay fit and sexy!
