Just when you think Kapitolyo already has enough restaurants, Crunchy Crab comes along.
Crunchy Crab has been open for a little less than two months right in the heart of Kapitolyo. It is a seafood shack that offers tasty and affordable fish, shrimp and crab.
We got a chance to chat with one of the owners of Crunchy Crab, Kenneth, who talked about their inspiration for their business venture. He said that they wanted to bring their love for the beach and seafood to the city. He revealed that, aside from the seafood, what’s special about Crunchy Crab is that they get their supplies from Filipino businesses including their soft shell crab from a farm in Mindanao.
Crunchy Crab actually started from food markets and food bazaars until they eventually got their own store.
As soon as you enter Crunchy Crab, you will be welcomed with these beautiful beach photos that are mostly from the owners themselves.
This decoration is a summary of what Crunchy Crab is all about.
Crunchy Crab offers shrimp buckets that can be good for one person or for sharing. You can also pick your sauce from either Mild, Original, Salted Egg, Coconut Creme and Mango Tango.
Shrimp Bucket in Original Mild Php 150 | 280 | 520
We ordered the shrimp bucket in Mild Original sauce. Most of the food at Crunchy Crab is served in tin buckets, but we asked them to serve it in a plate so you guys can see how beautiful the food is. The Mild Original sauce is perfect for your sweet tooth and will remind you of sitting by the beach and eating with bare hands.
Shrimp Bucket in Coconut Creme Php 150 | 280 | 520
Another flavor we got to try is the Coconut Creme. It basically tastes like ginataang hipon heaping in sweet and spicy coconut. This is a personal favorite and can be paired perfectly with rice and a bottle of beer.
Crab Bucket in Salted Egg Sauce Php 280 | 520
One of the favorites is the Crab in Salted Egg Sauce. This is quite a peculiar match, but the crab surprisingly blends perfectly with the saltiness of the sauce.
Crab Bucket in Mango Tango Sauce Php 280 | 520
Another flavor is the Mango Tango. It is very sweet, tangy and refreshing. This is the one that will remind you of the beach.
Soft Shell Crab Burger Php 245 | Add Php 25 for Fries
The Best Seller is the Soft Shell Crab Burger. You may have heard of Soft Shell Crabs in fancy restaurants, but it can also be found at Crunchy Crab. It is one whole crab fried to perfection topped with mango vinaigrette. It is perfect for those in a hurry and for people who want to pair some seafood with bread.
San Fo Fish and Chips Php 160
Aside from Shrimp and Crabs, they also have fish, which is in the menu under ‘Sanfo Fish & Chips’ or the ‘Manila Fish’, a lunch special served with rice.
Crunchy Crab is actually expanding their menu and will soon be serving squid or calamares really soon. Once that happens, it will easily become everyone’s one-stop shop for anything seafood.
After devouring some seafood, you can also indulge in some desserts.
Dessert Special of the Month- Choco Molten Lava
Crunchy Crab’s Choco Molten Lava is this month’s special – a soft chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream.
Calamansi Muffin Php 75
The Calamansi Muffin tops off the menu. This is their take on the famous calamansi muffins people usually buy in Boracay. Crunchy Crab’s Muffins are made in-house and are served with whipped cream and with a cute little sugar crab on the side.
If you are craving for seafood and if you are ready to eat with your bare hands, you don’t have too look further.
Crunchy Crab is located at the compound of Uncle Moe’s across Ace Water Spa and along United Street. Just go down the alley and you’ll see Crunchy Crab to your right! 🙂
