Country’s Top Tourism Stakeholders and Security Professionals Convene for Tourism Security and Safety Conference 2016

DAVAO CITY, PHILIPPINES – Tourism Security and Safety Conference 2016 brings together the country’s top security professionals, major players in the tourism sector, and other stakeholders for three days of knowledge-sharing, learning, and networking opportunity in an aim to foster security and safety awareness and address security concerns within the industry.

Happening on August 24-26, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier in Davao City, Philippines, the three-day event will feature plenary and breakout sessions on the first two days and a city tour on the third day.

Guest of Honor is newly appointed Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo, herself a veteran in the tourism industry with over two decades of experience running her own travel agency, Mt. Apo Travel and Tours.  Secretary Teo is the president of the National Association of Independent Travel Agencies (NAITAS) and an active member of Davao Travel Agencies Association (DTAA), Davao Association of Tour Operators (DATO), and Davao Regional Tourism Council (DRTC).

Delivering the keynote address will be esteemed diplomat Ambassador Marciano Paynor, Jr. The former ambassador was the Director General of the Asia Pacific Economic Conference 2015 National Organizing Council (NOC). Ambassador Paynor also chaired the Palace Inaugural Committee that handled the inauguration of President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo.

He is currently the Managing Director of Corporate Support Services of Ayala Corporation.

The conference will feature presentations addressing issues affecting tourism-related enterprises in the areas of the 5As – Arrival, Access, Accommodations, Activities, and Attractions.
