FlightStats, Inc. (part of FlightGlobal), the leader in global flight information services, has released the winners for its ‘Annual Airline On-Time Performance Service (OPS) Awards’.

It has been publishing the results of its OPS awards for the last eight years.

The awards recognize the “Best of the Best” Airlines that “demonstrate consistently high performance and deliver on their promise to get passengers to their destinations in a timely manner”. It recognizes airlines around the world that deliver the highest percentage of flights to their arrival gates within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time.

To determine the finalists and winners, FlightStats analyzes flight status and arrival data from global sources including civil aviation authorities, airlines, airports, and major airline reservation systems.

The awards are categorized into: Major International Airlines, Airline Alliances, North American Major Airlines, European Major Airlines, Asia-Pacific Major Airlines, Middle East & Africa Major Airlines, Latin American Major Airlines, and Low-Cost Carriers.

Dutch airline KLM tops the list of the the 10 Best International Airlines of 2016. Followed by Iberia, Japan Airlines (JAL), Qatar Airways, Austrian, ANA, Singapore Airlines, Delta Airlines, TAM Linhas Aéreas and Qantas.

Meanwhile, Israel airline El Al leads the list of the 10 Worst International Airlines of 2016. Our very own Philippine Airlines (PAL) also made it to the list as the fourth worst international airline. The other airlines on the list are: Icelandair, Air India, Asiana Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Air China, Korean Air, and Hainan Airlines.
