Congressmen Filed House Bill To Extend Tax Exemption Privileges To Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach

Earlier this month, the people were extremely disappointed when they learned about the BIR taxing the Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach. Despite Cagayan De Oro Representative Rufus Rodriguez proposed tax exemption, the BIR was apparently firm and said that her prizes were all subject to tax.

The Congressman explained that the tax exemption could be a nice gesture for recognizing her effort to break the 42-year drought.

Fortunately, Rep. Rufus and brother Maximo Rodriguez filed a House Bill 6367 which will extend tax exemption privileges to our Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s earnings. As reported by Manila Bulletin, the two congressmen finally enacted a bill that would grant her tax exemptions. Furthermore, the House Bill was filed last Monday, January 18, 2016.

Moreover, their fellow congressman, Camarines Sur Rep. Salvio Fortuno also agrees to the bill and expressed that it should be extended as well to all Filipinos who brought pride and honor to our country, which I think should’ve been done ever since.
