Charlie’s Grind and Grill: The Perfect Barkada Chillout Resto

What says fun barkada hangout more than a place where you can sit down for scrumptious food and drinks all while watching a good movie on TV, listening to chill music, or just having a great conversation with your friends? All those things I just mentioned you can find at Charlie’s Grind and Grill.

Charlie’s is best known for its burgers, but it isn’t a newcomer in the business. It has actually been around for some years now. Its first branch opened in Kapitolyo, Pasig, back in 2009 hidden behind a carwash station, but I’ve only gotten the chance to try the place very recently when I found out it finally opened a branch in Makati – in Aguirre Street, Legaspi Village, to be more specific.

One Friday night after work, I invited my friends whom I hadn’t seen for awhile to try it out with me. You see, Charlie’s servings are big, so it’s best to go as a group.

Before I tell you all about the food we ate that night (there was quite a lot!), let me give you a little tour of the newly opened burger place in Makati.

Inside, you’ll find cool colorful wall art like the one above, which add a youthful and fun vibe in the place – perfect for their young target market. In this Makati branch particularly, the diners are yuppies working from the nearby offices.

There’s also a flat screen TV in the corner. It was tuned in to Star Movies when we were there. If one of you feels like tuning out from the conversation for awhile, you can direct your attention to the TV. Actually, when there’s a good movie showing, it might even become one of the new topics you and  your friends would be discussing as you continue to enjoy your meal.

This is the kitchen area which you can see from the dining area. It’s not hidden from customers’ sight so you can actually see how they prepare the food that you’ll be eating. The food at Charlie’s Grind and Grill is handcrafted – your food is all prepared by hand and on the spot. It’s not stored in a freezer and ready to be cooked soon as a customer orders. They even make their own bread.  This makes the waiting time for your food longer than other burger joints, but that’s okay. The food will be worth the wait.

Now, let me tell you about all the food that we ate that made us so full, we could hardly breathe well sitting down. Mr. Jun, the operations manager at Charlie’s, was the one who picked the food for us that night because we just couldn’t decide what to order. Luckily, we brought our appetites because there was a lot!
