You’ve seen them popping up on your Facebook feed: “CheerVar” and all other variations of these kilig stories that seem to be an offshoot of the Wattpad phenomenon in recent years… only they’re trending on Facebook. Your friends are hooked. Your co-workers are hooked. Heck, even your mom asks you about it!
These stories are now known as “socialseryes”, named after the medium it’s become popular on (social media), and take on the familiar format of smartphones! And before long, just EVERYONE is sharing yet ANOTHER rom-com story, text exchanges between soon-to-be lovers.
Well, there’s another “socialserye” on the rise, and is quickly gaining momentum, except for one thing: it’s unlike anything you’ve EVER read. And we didn’t expect to get hooked on this!
Siege Malvar, a Filipino novelist who’s published a collection of short stories named “Wakasang Wasak”, is responsible for “Charged: Vol. 1”,a heart-stopping SMS-format thriller that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seats. It follows a girl named Candy, and an anonymous texter who’s got her by the neck and can watch her every move. Whether he’s a Dexter-esque psychopath with his his unique brand of justice, or just a plain old manipulative creep has yet to be revealed.
Trust us: it’s addicting!
It starts off simply enough, kind of like your usual socialserye, where some random texter sounds like a secret admirer…
Until things start taking a different turn…
And by this point, there’s no turning back.
Creepy as hell, BUT SO WORTH IT.
