On the 27th of August, a very special event for dogs of different shapes and sizes and hoomans was held at Negative Space Café in Maginhawa, Quezon City. SnikOut and Pulseras by Kim collaborated to create this wonderful brass stamping workshop in celebration of International Dog’s Day.

SnikOut (pronounced as Sneak Out) is Rhynoapps’ very first mobile application that “builds connections physically, helps discover interest groups, encourage spontaneity, and assists in managing and scheduling free time.” It was created “to enhance the process of event planning for spontaneous and planned catch-ups and meet ups with your friends, and at the same time opening the doors to meet new friends.” For now, SnikOut is available only in iOS but they plan to hopefully have an Android version of the app soon.

Pulseras by Kim is a project started by Kim Tiamlee that sells handmade minimalist brass jewelry and conducts jewelry making workshops.

Negative Space Café, on the other hand, is a newly established pet friendly art café that just started business two months ago. They sell Singaporean, Japanese, and British food and drinks. They have a beautiful Japanese Akita Inu named Akatsuki who’s really friendly with people. The design of the café is very modern and all their furniture are custom designed. What I really liked about this café is that it was designed as a cozy studio where you can do your artworks, display them, or sell them.

They also sell art materials in case you’d run out of materials while working on your art.

The workshop itself was delightful as we all learned the basics of brass stamping with the help and patience of Ms. Kim. Stamping (also known as pressing) is the process of placing flat sheet metal in either blank or coil form into a stamping press where a tool and die surface forms the metal into a net shape. We then used our newfound knowledge in creating leather goodies for our beloved dog companions and for our own. We used different charms to decorate the collars then hammered and stamped away on the brass sheets included in each of our adorable stamping kit pouch.

Included inside the pouch were:

– Brass sheets
– Chain
– Sandpaper
– Cutter
– Metal ruler
– Rivets
– Rings, clasps
– Embroidering thread and needle
– Silver pen

You can really tell that everyone was having the time of their lives with the workshop. Everyone was happily conversing with each other and helping each other out. Your patience will surely be really tested as it was a real challenge to stamp the letters neatly on the brass sheets. But fret not, your hard work and patience will pay off as you see the result of your work.

After the workshop, we were served with a drink and food of our choice by the café. We chose their cappuccino and ham and cheese croissant which was really yummy by the way. The cappuccino was topped with smooth and creamy and foam embellished with a beautiful design. The croissant was buttery and flaky and really went well with ham and cheese. I truly love the way they plate their food as I found it very chic and sophisticated.

After finishing the delectable food, everyone stayed for a while and chatted some more before saying their good byes. Through this event I’ve met so many wonderful people with the same interests as mine. I really wish there will be more of these kinds of events in the future. It can really help you connect with your friends, make new friends, and make new adventures.
