My journey as a foodie started in 2001, when I met a man I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with. We shared countless food trips, merienda breaks, midnight snacks and amazing breakfasts. I realized that these moments were more than just simple meals, but priceless memories of the different flavors of life.   I started documenting my food adventures (and misadventures) in 2008 (visit EATS A DATE) with my new baby… [...]

When In Manila, days really pass by so quickly, once again Christmas is here and it’s the season for a flavorful cup of coffee to beat the cold days. Lucky for me, I was able to witness the Carnivalicious launch of Seattle’s Best Coffee’s  holiday blends at Greenbelt 3 Park.     As they say, the true spirit of Christmas is giving gifts and sharing, that is why Seattle’s Best Coffee teamed up with World Vision to help send children [...]

When in Manila and tired of the usual cafes which offer the same old blends and treats,  allow me to share to you a new spot which I found right at the heart of Metro Manila. STACYs-wheninmanila070STACYs-wheninmanila

A bit like breakfast, a bit like lunch. Where to grab a unique brunch When In Manila?  Heard of  STACY’s already? The name might sound a bit arbitrary but it manages to stir up a unique dining flair.     One fine Sunday morning, rather than our usual of grab a coffee on the way into church, and just eat cereal from our kitchen, we went to STACY’s. A quick hop over to this brunch stop is [...]

corner tree cafe 4

When in Manila and craving for vegetarian or even vegan food, head on over to Corner Tree Cafe along Jupiter St. in Makati City. Growing up, meal time was always such a battle between me and my parents as I would REFUSE to eat my vegetables. In fact, sometimes, I still push my vegetables to the side of the plate, but all that’s changed since I came across Corner Tree Cafe (CTC).    Corner Tree [...]

YOUR FAVORITES ARE BACK AT FLAPJACKS! (“Back…Better…Best!” gives you back all your much-missed dishes)   When In Manila, it’s refreshing to go back to what we love, a kind of déjà vu — whether they be places, things, persons, a childhood game, a song, a dish. Which is why, fueled by nostalgia and in response to numerous requests, Flapjacks re-introduces signature dishes that guests have come to love.   Flapjacks brings back [...]

Cafe 1771 9

When in Manila and panicking as to where to bring your date for dinner (or even for lunch or brunch!), I suggest that you head on over to Cafe 1771 in El Pueblo, Pasig City for a truly enjoyable dining experience with good food and a comfortable setting.       Upon entering Cafe 1771, I was immediately drawn to the incredibly cute color scheme. In fact, for a good five minutes or so that’s all [...]

kaya-toast

When In Manila, we constantly look for new places to eat. Yakun Kaya Toast was once only reachable when in Singapore, but now, we can enjoy its delicious coconut jam even when in Manila.          I typically order half of Set Meal 1 – which includes a slice of kaya toast with butter, 1 soft-boiled egg, and a cup of hot tea (P115).         The kaya [...]

strawberry-flavored-taho.jpg

When in Manila, there’ll always be that one Pinoy snack you’d always remember growing up in the Philippines. To many, one of them would have to be taho. Taho is a sweet snack made of soft/silken tofu, arnibal (caramelized brown sugar and vanilla syrup), and sago (tapioca balls). The Malaysians and Indonesians have a similar version of this and it’s called tahu.

PB Co. 6

As a kid growing up in Canada, my mom would always pack my lunch and more often than not, it would be a peanut butter- banana sandwich. In fact, I’d often have peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast or as a snack, suffice to say, peanut butter was a childhood staple. Unfortunately, as I grew up, my love for it fizzled out as I began to develop more “sophisticated” taste buds. Nevertheless, when in Manila, I [...]

When In Manila, one’s search for glorious food will never come to an end. Question is what makes a good food? To me, it only not refers to how the dish was done; the location where it could be found should also be a major factor to be considered. Located at 5th level of the newest landmark boutique hotel along Katipunan (The Oracle Hotel and Residences) is The O Bistro & Cafe.       [...]

turon

“Rain drops keep falling on my head…” It’s rainy season once more! Tropical Depression “Juaning” is currently caressing the streets of Manila and we have no choice but to brave the rain on a regular workday. But what if we’re just spending the day at home? Or we simply need something to make this ho-hum day bearable? All we need is some TLC perhaps, and if all else fails, a serving of good ol’ comfort [...]

Grams 6

When in Manila and craving for good ol’ comfort food, make your way to Gram’s Diner where you’re sure to indulge in hearty and feel good food that doesn’t strain your wallet.   Comfort food can be anything from chocolates to a tub of ice cream, in fact, the whole point of it is to bring you back to your childhood when the worries and stress of life were non-existent.
