Discover the Magnificence and Splendor of Apulit Island Resort in Palawan!

When in Manila, it’s impossible not to feel the frenzied hustle of the fast-paced city life (unless you are a monk in a trance).  Sometimes we all need a break and go to a faraway place where the loud car horns and smokescreen of…well…smoke are just some distant tiny beeps and wisps of out-of-place gas.   One day, out of whim, I decided to take that break.  I checked out some tour packages online to see if there are any available that same November weekend the spur of the moment decision took place. 

Enter travelfactor.org, a very cool organization for travellers with lots of great feedback. Being a solo traveller, I found the services that they offer very beneficial. They take care of the transportation, the billeting, among others.   I decided to register for their Surfvivor La Union trip to try being the surfer chick that people insist I am (must be because I’m morena).  The package included transportation to and from La Union, an overnight stay in a hotel, one dinner, 2 surfing lessons, a personalized bag tag and a Travel Factor shirt, all for just Php 3,000.00.  I looked forward to spending time away from the worries of the city and finally ticking off one item from my bucketlist: to travel alone.  

So I, a group of students, a group of officemates, and the group coordinator and his girlfriend, departed in a van that took us to La Union in roughly about six hours.   We arrived at Sebay Inn at the break of dawn.  The staff was friendly and accommodating, allowing us to use one of the rooms before the official check-in time.  It was drizzling and I thought it was just perfect.  You see, I’m planning to get stoked but never get heat stroke.

A yearning to re-connect with our inner selves and gain back that strength to keep us going in our respective journeys.  It is actually my 3rd time in Corregidor, and this time, it is indeed an honor to write about the whole experience for Wheninmanila.com because honestly, it is one of my all-time favorite vacation spots!

When I say detach, I really mean literally detaching  from all distractions! Since it is an island, I really love the idea that I am physically away from Manila. Also, I love the fact that they have no wi-fi there so people can also detach from the world wide web even just for a few days. I’m sure you’d agree that the internet can also cause so much stress!!  Corregidor gives you this opportunity to relax, meditate and just be yourself! =)

I remember pondering on one question in my head during the trip.. “Why do I keep on going back to Corregidor?”  Perhaps, it is due to the total detachment from the concrete jungle of Manila. It is one of the few places which I get to enjoy a good night sleep. I feel at peace here. There is a certain energy which the place enfolds me with.  I love how this place enables me to clear my head and  think more creatively. I believe this is the best reward I can give to myself. =)

So when in Manila, give yourself a break! Detach yourself  from worldly worries and book yourself a trip to Corregidor!

and like the famous words uttered by General Douglas McArhur….. yes Corregidor, I SHALL RETURN!!

Looking For A Relaxing and Affordable Weekend Getaway? Visit Corregidor!!

When in Manila, you’ll definitely never run out of interesting places to unwind for the Philippine archipelago  possesses  countless natural treasures waiting to be discovered! As for this occasion, it was more of a re-discovery for us!

This week, let us take you on a visual tour for you to witness the spectacular sites and experiences during our trip to Pangasinan!

Last Nov 21 – 22, When In Manila got invited on a guided tour around Pangasinan courtesy of the Pangasinan government.

Frank and I feel very fortunate to be part of the When In Manila entourage for the 1^st Pangasinan Digital ICT Congress where our editor-in-chief Vince was invited as one of the guest speakers during that week long event.  As for us, our duty was to attend the tour to experience the sights, sounds, flavors as well as to witness the improvements which the government has worked so hard for the betterment of the province! The government of Pangasinan, spearheaded by their very hardworking governor, Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. has been doing its best in achieving its vision of  Pangasinan to become  “the best place to invest, work, live and raise a family”.

At first, we never really knew what to expect. Whatever it was, we both knew the trip was gonna be fun and memorable!

We really hate to bore you with long facts so we’ve decided to take you there with our photos. Frank and I enjoyed capturing every moment during this trip!

We never thought Pangasinan had sooo much to offer….

I must say, the longanisa at their restaurant was very tasty!! I just hope they can make the price more reasonable though..

I also suggest they work on their scrambled eggs  and the quality of their rice=) This meal can be improved!

It was indeed a looooong relaxing day for us. For dinner, we’ve decided to wander around town in the hope to find good eats. One good thing about us, I may say is that we always have the spirit of adventure with us. We don’t really make plans….we just say yes to whatever good unfolds! I remember telling manong driver to take us to a place where there’s food!

And so manong driver dropped us off somewhere at the capitol complex. We made a quick stroll and in no time, we saw quite a decent place to dine… the Capitol Cafe and Employee’s Lounge.

We never expected that dinner would turn out to be one of our  memorable ones, because the food tasted way better than the other hi-end  fancy looking restos in Manila! The food was definitely outstanding! Their fried chicken is the real SARAP TO THE BONES!

After that very filling pleasant meal, we decided to wander around the capitol plaza to feel the cool night breeze.

How relaxing it was to breathe fresh air  and witness the joy and laughter of the locals that night. This is something which you can’t experience in Manila now a days. And for a moment, I wanted to exchange places with them because they live such simple and happy lives.

The people were very friendly and kind… living such simple and happy lives! 

Another thing which we found impressive was that the place was  very safe especially for shutterbugs like us who often have our

cameras with us.

The next day, we woke up early for our Pangasinan Tour…..

Heaven’s way of saying, “Prepare for yet another great adventure!”

Of course, we had to try their specialties….

After that super satisfying breakfast, we all hopped on the tour bus! Yey!!

We were joined by some of the ICT speakers.  Judith, our tour guide that day told us a lot of impressive facts about the province

First stop was a visit to the Our Lady of Manaoag Shrine!

A famous destination for thousands of catholic devotees from all over the world due to the countless miracles and requests granted.

For our next destination, we went on a 45 minute boat cruise along the Pantal River Mangroves.  For now, this river cruise is offered to the public for free! The Pangsinan government sure has a lot of plans for this place!

For our lunch, our tour guide brought us to a so-called famous eatery in Pangasinan – Serato’s

This is my first ever time to eat frogs legs! Yes, it does taste like chicken however, it wasn’t freshly fried so it felt like I was chewing rubber! ahuhuhuhu

For our next stop, we went to Je’s- the famous bagoong (shrimp paste) maker in Pangasinan!

For our final stop, we requested Ms. Judith to take us to the wharf bound to the famous Hundred Islands!

Did you know you only have to pay 1,100- 2,000 pesos for a boat that can hold up to 15 people?  The tour includes a whole day boat trip (8-5pm) on 3 islands (food not included). Better  bring your own food because the prices in the islands are sooo expensive!

I will definitely comeback for the island hopping tour!

Before heading home, the organizers took us to Dagupan City’s Galvan street where the famous Pigar-pigar is found!

Pigar pigar is actually Dagupan City‘s version of Beef Stirfry! It’s really easy to make!

I never thought that trip would make a strong impact on me. I remember feeling melancholy as we journeyed back to busy old Manila. I loved the simplicity of the place and impressed with Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. ‘s leadership. I do hope that all of their plans will be successfully implemented in the future.  I must admit that at first, I was a little doubtful but after the trip, I’m convinced that their vision in making Pangasinan “the best place to invest, work, live and raise a family” could really be attainable  in time with proper planning, hard work and cooperation by everyone.  I may say that Pangasinan is indeed a model province!

We would like to thank the dedicated people behind the success of the 1^st Pangasinan Digital ICT Congress especially to Vange and JR for being such great hosts! Come And Experience The Beauty And Goodness Of Pangasinan!

As a kid growing up, I was exposed to so many outdoor activities. I still have very fond memories of cold nights spent in sleeping bags, giggling and counting shooting stars.

Time went by, and I grew up into a city dweller. When In Manila, I learned to go out, shop and dine. The only exercise I get is when I walk through Landmark from Glorietta, to get to Greenbelt. The urban jungles of Manila have become the only jungle I am familiar with. I was afraid, and yes, it was very apparent that I have lost my fun, outdoor side.

I was trying to wrap my head around this realization and trying to convince myself of otherwise when word was given about Roxy’s Femme Fling. Roxy was inviting bloggers for a day of fun and activities at their store in Nuvali. Knowing of Roxy’s fun and active reputation, I immediately got on board. Roxy, challenge accepted!

The day started with a 10:30 a.m. meet up at R.O.X. in Bonifacio Highstreet, which happens to be the biggest sports, outdoor, and recreation store in Southeast Asia. We then took two of these cool Rockstar vans to Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

It was at almost 12 when we arrived. After those Rockstar energy drinks while on the way, there was very excited chatter. Lunch was served courtesy of Sumo Sam. During a sushi making demo, they explained that their restaurant makes use of authentic ingredients that gives their food that extra oomph!

My favorites were the Tempura, the Salmon with Wasabi Cream Sauce, the Salmon Sashimi, and the Crunchy Tuna Maki.

After the meal, we headed on to the Nuvali Qucksilver store, which carries Roxy, and started with the days activities. A very comfortable beach setting greeted us once in the store. There were these pink oversized Roxy pillows, seashell decors, and even gummy sea critters! Isn’t it pretty?

First up were manicures from Nail-a-holics. The pampering begins…

Next up was a make up demo from Wet n’ Wild. I’ve always been familiar with the brand and I use it myself, but I never knew that it started as makeup for surfer girl types hence the name.

We were then given a short presentation on Roxy as a brand. I believe the best line from that was: “Roxy is like a summer day that never ends”.

The fashion challenge was our next activity. We were divided into groups and given a specific theme. We were to style and shoot a Roxy campaign with that theme.

We didn’t win the challenge, though it really didn’t matter much at that point. Prizes were awarded to the winners and giveaways were given out to everyone. This included gift certificates from Roxy. Yay!

There was a longboarding activity set up next which I was excited for, but shopping overshadowed everything else, and we didn’t get to go anymore.

When In Manila, isn’t it annoying when you forget your sunglasses and it’s so sunny? You squint and see everyone else wear theirs and you wish you had remembered to bring yours. Just a reminder that I am not in any way connected with UST okay :) It just so happened that I chose yellow for this shades.

For me, however, the real test of whether eyewear becomes a ‘performer’ or not, is how versatile it is.   But much to my surprise, during my first run with them, I was extremely satisfied. I tested them with different categories:

Style

First off,  why Wayfarer? C’mon, they never really went completely out of style, they are edgy, fierce and cool at the same time. It’s actually up to the wearer on how you’d make it all work. I mean really! They are absolutely timeless (in style since the 80′s! ) and complimenting to almost every shape face.

The Wayfarer Style is perfect for people who don’t like the larger lenses. Personally, I love the larger lenses because I feel like they cover my face much better, and there is no way that the sun is sneaking past my peepers. Wayfarers always have tickled my fancy and aside from it being a killer accessory, it’s practical to carry one in my bag every day. The classic style looks good on just about anyone. They can be worn by men and women. Their wide and angular shape can complement just about anything. Plus, they come in many colours!

Design

The design matches its quality with its sleek, simple yet streamlined design.  This one’s well made, exhibits a simple workmanship. The logo doesn’t look like crap or not in any way looks like a replica. None of those bling bling, Swarovski accentuates or whatsoever. Just pure minimalist design. The simplicity of its design complements one’s face structure. It even gives the illusion that I have a slimmer face. The thin plastic frame is so friendly that it doesn’t hurt my face and around my ears when worn.

The frame is averagely sturdy, lightweight and doesn’t make squeaky noises when you fold the glasses to store them. You know how annoying they can get right? Since I have long hair, a minor but very much appreciated feature is the shades’ bridge design.  You can see in the photo that the bridge has no  rubber pads that keep them in place but it does not cause a gnarly tangle when I put them on top of my head  (definitely not so cool when you have to bother friends and strangers just to remove sunglasses from your hair eh?!).

Fit

How well it stayed firmly in place? This is a big deal since I have a round face and tend to get the dreaded ‘bounce’ most of the time.  Very lightweight and perfectly tinted–not too dark or too light. Quality of a much more expensive product for a good price. Once I put them on, I realized that they were worth it. The plastic that they’re made out of is really durable, lightweight and not overwhelming. The joints that hold the frames together are also put together really well. Initially, it took me awhile to get used to having smaller lenses on my sunglasses, but the Pepe Jeans Eyewear just looked great. The lenses are significantly shorter so it provided me with great cheek clearance when I smile. These glasses are perfect for those with petite faces or if you prefer slimmer lenses.

Amount of Coverage

The shades protected me from the side-glare. Unlike other sunglasses, there is enough clearance that my eyelashes don’t brush against the lenses. My mascara doesn’t want to have any relationship with lenses of any kind alright. I like sunglasses that frame my face completely, and this does the job. These fit like a glove and aren’t so big I looked like one bug-eyed woman. I was pleased by the way glare was reduced while keeping a clear and sharp image as well. Clarity wise, it’s a plus.

Weather Adaptation

When I get a good, snug fit shades with a great coverage, the downside arrives when it becomes “fog gable”.  I never had to pull the sunglasses down my nose just to clear the lens.

Protection

The lenses protect my eyes from the sun very well as this has high UV rating. It is critical that you settle for one that will be able to give you excellent UV protection. Remember that sun exposure contribute to the development of cataracts as well as other eye disorders. Block those harmful eye irritants as early as now.

Cost

Ah, one of my favourite categories when choosing sunglasses. I bet yours too?  This versatile performance eyewear retails for just.   With this, you don’t need to shell out twice the equivalent of a monthly house rental in exchange for a wardrobe of great eye protection. I recently got a chance to visit the El Nido Resort in Palawan and I am completely speechless!

Palawan is widely known as one of the most beautiful places in the country and what’s even more impressive is their stance and the initiative they’ve taken to keep their region clean and green! So we at WhenInManila.com have nothing but support and positive things to say about them!

The trip to El Nido Palawan consists of small planes, big jeeps, small boats into medium sized bankas and more! Lots of transfers and changes, but it was all worth it!

Anyway, I was here in El Nido Palawan for the Philippines’ launch of the new Asus Zenbook, which was just as awesome as Palawan itself.

Of course, we had to take advantage of our exclusive stay in El Nido Palawan, so here’s some pics and stories about what to do, When In Palawan.

First of all, you NEED to go snorkeling! There are so many snorkel spots here and you’re sure to find lots of AMAZING things in the water. The resort’s charm is enhanced by its crystal clear blue waters teeming with colorful tropical fishes. Right off the pier, one can snorkel with groupers, sergeant majors, parrot fish, fusiliers, and more. I really wished I still had my underwater cam for this to get some better pics for you guys, but for now, just enjoy these photos of the paces we snorkeled at in Palawan.

Following our Palawan snorkeling experience, we checked out Cudugnon Cave. This is one of the highlights of the island tours where one must crawl through a hole to enter the main cavern. This in turn leads to a smaller cavern which is believed by archeologists to be a burial site during the Neolithic period.

We were also told by the locals that this Cudugon Cave, also know as the “Shaking Cave” or “Shivering Cave” was used by the locals as a place for sick people to go… at this point, we thought that the cave had healing properties, until our guide finished his statement and instead told us that sick people were sent to this cave to die! This was before medicine and all the more modern scientific means of dealing with sick people. Furthermore, during the war, this cave was also used as a prison and again, many deaths took place here… Wouldn’t you want to spend a night alone here… 

The coolest story though was about how there was supposedly a buried treasure here. Within the cave, you can see a big rock that seemed to had been the lid to a big hole in the ground. We didn’t realize this until our guide pointed it out and it was really cool as you can totally see how the boulder fits into the ground. Legend has it that there once was a buried treasure there.

Afterwards, we went over to the Miniloc Island Resort and Small Lagoon to do some kayaking! Miniloc Island is situated in a cove with a backdrop of sheer limestone cliffs. The Small Lagoon can be reached through a crack between rocks, the small lagoon is enclosed by towering marble walls. Don’t miss the “private” pool in the innermost part of the lagoon. Kayaking on the reef outside the lagoon is also highly recommended to further appreciate its awesome stillness.

We we able to kayak in between the small crack to get ourselves in the lagoon. We were told that this houses a giant fish that the locals see every now and then. We weren’t told if this “giant fish” was dangerous but we all went swimming in the lagoon with no casualties. It’s cool though as the feel of this “secret” lagoon and the tales of the giant fish really had us feeling like we were by a Lockness Monster type of lake.

Those are some of my top recommendations but believe me, there’s so much to do and see in Palawan that you’ll literally be wishing you had booked more days there! The scenery alone is one to leave you breathless, so imagine all that plus the cool sites you can visit.

My friend Grayson and I waiting for the boat that will be taking us to Ariel’s Point. From Boracay’s station 1, it more or less takes 30 minutes to get to the destination, so if you get sea sick, I suggest you take something before going on-board. 

During the 30 minute boat ride, my friends and I were snoozing/ basking in the sun. Since I don’t really get motion sickness, I enjoyed it and found it relaxing, the buzz of the boat’s motor, the sound of the waves crashing against the side of the boat… Loved it. 

 Finally! We arrive at Ariel’s Point! Take note of the diving boards set up at different levels: 3, 5,6,7, and lastly, at 13 meters! 

As soon as we docked, a couple of french guys zoomed up to the highest platform and started diving like a boss! They did back flips and a whole bunch of other fancy dives that made me go, “Hey, jumping off a 13 meter cliff doesn’t seem so bad! Me next! Me next!”… Not one of my smartest moments in life.

I have to say, as I was going up the steps to get here, I was all pumped up, I was like, “Yeah! Let’s do this! Woohoo!”. Please, as soon as I was HERE, I literally froze. I was like… RAISA, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! SUICIDE MUCH?! Out of a group of 20, only 7 of us jumped off the 13 meter board, I was one of them and the only girl too. Soooo… HA!

I’d upload the video of me diving, but the language I was using while standing on the platform wasn’t very… child- friendly to say the least. Haha, I’m sorry! I was so nervous I was cussing left and right. So here’s a more appropriate video of cliff diving at Ariel’s Point courtesy of my good friend, Vince Golangco.

When In Manila America, before I leave my good ol’ home San Diego, CA for Incheon, South Korea in 3 weeks, I decided to make the most out of my limited days here where it’s forever sunny. My brother and his friends wanted to take a trip down to Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico for the weekend, so I decided to tag along.

Now before I reminisce  about my weekend, let it be known that driving / visiting Mexico is relatively SAFE and not how it used to be. Recently, many drug cartel seniors have been caught and killed, or so they say. Also there are numerous checkpoints run by the policia, which has made the streets a little more safer. However, if you ever have the opportunity to drive down there, WATCH OUT for potholes. They are ridiculous. Past the horrible roads and crazy drivers, I made it to the condo just in time to catch the sunset.

Other than the amazing sunset, another beautiful thing about my day and a half in Mexico was the food. I can’t even begin to explain how incredibly delicious and mouth watering every bite of every food I had there. From the authentic Mexican tacos, lobsters, candy, tequila, everything made the taste buds orgasm.

Some Info & Tips

1. For a 6 bedroom penthouse right on the coastline, the 8 of us paid $80 (US Dollars) each for the weekend, a spankin’ good deal. Be sure to reserve a place that has it’s own beach and a working jacuzzi. They will make your stay a lot more enjoyable. Don’t be afraid to shop for groceries at a grocery store there, or if you feel more comfortable, buy them before you cross the border. Also, don’t let restaurants and merchants hustle you. If you roll deep with a big group or look foreign, they’ll try to get as much money out of you as they can.

2. If you’re ever in the area, be sure to head down to Puerto Nuevo just south of Rosarito for some quick shopping and food. They have great dulcerías (candy shops) and amazing restaurants overlooking the water for your lobster fix. If you’re looking for something to do at night, stop by Papas & Beer in downtown Rosarito. It used to be a pretty big hit before the whole drug cartel scare, but it’s still a fun place to escape to if you go there on a good night. Paid $12 for entry and open bar.

When In Rosarito Mexico, the highlights of my stay: riding a mechanical bull for the first time, breaking the bed in my room, buying a 1.75 L bottle of great tequila for $27, spotting a cricket the size of a cockroach, and waiting 3.5 hours to cross the border. This guy was the size of a pen cap!! But only in Mexico will you experience all the above.

Anyway, just thought I’d share some of my international travels and stories with you guys and my good friend Vince! 

So When In Mexico, just like When In Manila, try to do as the locals do. Have their authentic food and drink their authentic local beers. Of course, don’t forget to try their Authentic Mexican Tacos and their fresh lobsters! Best of all, grab yourself some cold cervezas at the local watering hole! It has become a popular local tourist attraction and has gained recognition throughout the world. The Underground River is the official entry of the Philippines and is 1 of the 28 finalists currently vying for a position in the New 7 Wonders of Nature (voting will end on November 11, 2011).

 
The world’s longest navigable underground river measures 8.2 km and stretches through a cave before flowing directly into the South China Sea. Inside the caves are many major formations of stalactites and stalagmites in various shapes and sizes.

It usually takes 2-3 hours land drive from Puerto Princesa City and a 20-minute boat ride from Sabang Beach to get there. Upon getting there, you can find monkeys, large monitor lizards and squirrels roaming around near the cave.

The Underground River tour is 1.5 km long and takes around 45 minutes. It is really dark and taking photos can be very difficult. Once inside, you can definitely feel a mystical ambiance to it. You’ll get to see the large number of bats living in the cave. The boatmen will guide you throughout the tour and will reveal a bunch of facts about the river.

Other activities that can be enjoyed at the National Park are jungle trekking, wildlife watching, mangrove paddleboat tour, and swimming/snorkeling in the white sand beaches.

So When In Manila, oops, I mean when in Palawan, make sure to experience one of nature’s amazing creations and take a tour of the Puerto Princesa Underground River. It is, indeed, a Philippine beauty.

Experience Palawan with Airphil Express Puerto Princesa Adventours!

When In Manila and feel like going on a vacation, book a flight and fly to Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Last weekend, I was invited by Airphil Express for a weekend getaway with other bloggers to visit the beautiful city of Puerto Princesa in Palawan. We left Manila on Friday, after being skeptical whether or not the flight would push through because of the storm. Upon arriving at the airport, I met the employees of Airphil Express (who would accompany us on the trip) and the six bloggers who were also invited, namely: Mica, Winston, Robbie, Eric, Rochelle and Anton. We took off at around 8AM and arrived in Puerto Princesa about an hour later.

We were welcomed by Ms. Anne, a tour guide of Maple Travel and Tours and our chaperone for the weekend. From the airport, they took us straight to Marianne Home Inn. This place not only has a beautiful facade but they have decent rooms and great services as well. Marianne Home Inn offers cheap rates, with a standard room for two costing only P1,200 per night and a dorm-type room for large groups for only P3,000.

After checking in and dropping our luggage, we hit the road and departed for our Honda Bay Island Hopping Tour. After registering at the Sta. Lourdes Wharf and securing a boat, we headed first to Pandan Island (getting its name from the many Pandan trees you can spot near the shoreline). FYI though, there’s an entrance free, P25 per person.

The beach was amazing, the water was crisp. The air was addicting. There were cottages and jet skis available for rent. While we were waiting for lunch to be prepared, we grabbed our cameras, took some photos, put on some sun block and took a dip. I put on my snorkeling gear and spotted a bunch of striped fish. Black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow. Then lunch came. We ate, silenced our tummies and lounged around.

Next up was a 10-minute boat ride to Snake Island. It was called that because the island is shaped like a snake. I took a swim, fed some fish and enjoyed a refreshing halo-halo before leaving. We ended the Honda Bay tour at Pambato Reef. This was like a mini-dock for boats, so visitors can snorkel and marvel at the corals and bigger fishes underneath. There were actually two cabins, one for fish feeding and another designated for swimming.

Before the day came to a close, we went to Ihawig for the Firefly Watching Tour. Gay as it may seem, I was pretty excited to experience this. It’s a 45-minute boat tour of Ihawig River, surrounded by mangroves and napa trees. Of course, there were fireflies. It was actually cool seeing them flicker like Christmas lights. The boatman shared a lot of interesting facts about fireflies, the river and star constellations. I even suggested that maybe they could turn it into a symphony of lights show or something. But he didn’t mind me.

The next morning, we visited the famous Underground River. Going there took us 2-3 hours land drive and a 20-minute boat ride from Sabang Beach. The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s longest navigable underground river. Currently, there’s a vote campaign to include it in the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

The Underground River tour was 1.5 km long and took around 45 minutes. It was so dark inside; taking photos was as difficult as playing darts blindfolded. We had hard hats on so we could avoid getting guano-ed by bats. All sorts of shapes and sizes of stalactites and stalagmites decorated the cave. Indeed, an amazing thing of nature.

After that, we headed back to Sabang Beach and had a hearty buffet lunch at Taraw Vista Lodge and Restaurant. The Underground River tour was the only activity for the day so we pretty much just basked around. A few of us took naps, while the others enjoyed the waves of the beach.

On our last day, we had a city tour of Puerto Princesa. We visited Baywalk, the Plaza Cuartel, Mitra’s Ranch, Baker’s Hill, Binuatan Weaving Center and a few souvenir shops. At around 12, we went back to Marianne Home Inn, packed our stuff, had lunch then departed for the airport.

The whole weekend was fun, 70% of the time I was laughing, the other 30% eating. I made new friends and had a wonderful time at Puerto Princesa. The beaches, tours, food and people were great.
