When in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna -the booming place south of Manila, where wakeboarders fly, families take their kids for a walk in the suburbs, weekend vacationers in Tagaytay pass by, industrial companies invest, or the place where people take a quick drive from the city to get a little bit of that slow-down vibe – there is the newest, undiscovered gem of a burger joint named Burzillian Nation.
Are you ready for a Man vs Food adventure?
It’s near a carwash but don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior which just might mean the food here means serious business.
It just opened 2 months ago, and by word of mouth, a med-rep friend (you know how these guys always find the best places to eat) told us there is this great place that serves very affordable but delicious food.
And the star of the show – is the Burzillian Burger. The anatomy is bacon, onions, mushrooms, cucumber, potato strings, all beef patty, tomato, another patty, cheese, pickles, another patty, lettuce, hashbrowns, an egg, and a knife!
Burzilla means big. Look at how bad-ass it looks.
Initial reaction when a Burzillian Burger is served to your table.
This greatness comes from Mickey Tiongco and Jerome Serrano, owners of Burzillian Nation. These dudes go beyond startup food businesses (been in it for several years already) but sheer passion, continuous reinvention and a natural talent for culinary creation has propelled them to put up one of the best burger joints south of Manila.
Lets start with some sumptuous teasers – The Saucy Short Ribs (Php 139.00) is perfect for lunch / dinner.
But this is probably the best rice meal there – Pan Seared Bulalo (Php 120.00) because there is something in the sauce that gives it a fresh twist. Must-try!
The Shrimp Basil Pasta (Php 99) packs value for its taste!
Even the Bonfire chicken (Php 319) has a surprising tasty dressing to it.
The Buffalo Wings (Php 249) could be also perfect for beer – in the middle of the day!
My third favorite is the Chessy Bacon Burger (Php 150) – its cheesy, and has bacon – so that kinda ends the discussion 😉
To see how it compares to the Burzilla, check this out.
What a goliath of a burger, good for sharing for 4-6. At Php 450.00 its such a steal that will definitely fill you up.
Its like a cake, except that its a burger. And the star of the show is still the beef (no extenders, just pure lean mean stuff), even if it already has a gazillion ingredients on it.
Experience is the best teacher and by spending an afternoon with the owners of Burzillian Nation, we saw how they made it to where they are and really felt the raw passion they have for their craft (as evident in the exquisite taste of their food). That is why on their free time they continuously experiment to see what else they can bring to our discerning tastebuds.
Now that’s a lotta heart. One good lesson I got from this afternoon is this – if you cook by the book without heart, it will taste like a book.
