What happened at the BDJ Fair?

The BDJ Fair 2013 – Make it Happen: Your Life’s Masterpiece opened the gates to over 1,000 attendees on a sunny Sunday morning at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. As early as 9:30 AM, girls were already lining up to enter the fairground that was truly buzzing with activity and energy. BDJ Girls had their best friends in tow; some even had their children and significant others with them—all eager to witness the launch of the 2014 edition of the planner they’ve come to love and look forward to using every year—the Belle de Jour Power Planner.

This year’s theme focuses on making one’s life a masterpiece and celebrating the rich tapestry of life, clearly manifested with the art-inspired designs, inspiring talks and fun yet challenging activities. An 8x8ft commitment wall welcomed guests upon entrance, inviting everyone to write down their dreams and commit to make them happen in 2014.

 

The BDJ Fair was open to everyone; attendees were given a passport which served as their handy guide to all activities and booths. For Php100, attendees had the option to avail of a VIP Pass for special access to exciting ctivities like Wall Climbing, Bungee Jumping, Tarot Card Reading and free coffee from CBTL. All VIP Pass holders were also entitled to claim lootbags with magazines from Cosmopolitan and Women’s Health, privilege cards from Ace Water Spa, discount coupons from Roxy, DC, Havaianas, Flipsters, Free Fish and Bulgogi Brothers, elastics and bookmarks from Goody, samples from Celeteque, and pocket calendars from Subic Grand Seas. Full proceeds from the VIP Pass were for the benefit of Rock Ed Philippines, Ang Bata at Kalinga – Volunteers for Children’s Welfare Inc (ABAKA – VCWI) and Bahay Bata Center.

Before the program proper commenced, participants of the Focus/Finish Scavenger Hunt had their skills and quick-thinking tested with the different challenges scattered around the hall. Through this activity, new friendships were also formed, as participants got to mingle with each other. Bellas also had the chance to show off their creative prowess at the Design Your OwnShoe workshop by DC, Sharpie and Life After Breakfast blogger Alessandra Lanot, and Cut-up Tees Tutorial by Trilogy Boutique.

BDJ ’s Lifestyle Brand partners offered different exciting and engaging activities in their respective booths. Attendees brought home souvenir photos from Wacoal and took ‘selfies’ at the Trilogy booth. All Instagram photos with the hashtag #BDJMakeitHappen were also printed by Print Social for free!

 

Bellas received free makeovers from Yves Rocher and Canmake, had their skin consultation from Dermclinic, tried out new hairdos at Tokyo Posh and bid goodbye to unwanted hair courtesy of Strip and Browhaus. Fashion brands SM Parisian, DC, Flipster, Free Fish and The Ramp were shopping stops for the BDJ Girls as they showcased their latest products. Meanwhile, J.Co, Mister Donut and CBTL sampled their yummy treats.

 

The BDJ Girls got instant freebies by joining Saforelle and The Cream Factory’sGuess the Scent Challenge, Subic Grand Seas’ Spin and Pop to Win, Pet Express’ puppy pachinko and Zen Zest’s ring toss game. GSK’s booth, meanwhile, was an information stop, where the girls learned more about cervical cancer.

 

The witty and bubbly Jasmine Mendiola hosted the program proper, introducing and interviewing the powerhouse line-up of speakers. Myrza Sison of Cosmopolitan Philippines encouraged the girls to be fun and fearless and to step out of their comfort zone. The Goddess of Belly Dance, Jill Ngo, had the girls moving and grooving in a mini dance to fitness workshop. Make-up artist to the stars, XengZulueta, shared tips on how the girls can highlight their unique features and be their own kind of beautiful. Ms. Universe 4th runner-up Venus Raj graced the event and shared her humbling journey to success. Girls had a casual talk with Gang Badoy as she gave insights on living a life of passion and purpose. Beauty expert duo Jigs Mayuga and EricaParedes discussed beauty tips and trends for girls to create a statement and stand out. The Fashionable tandem of Donna Cuna Pita and Barbie Chan Friebel capped the program with a fun and informative segment on styling your way to success.

 

Raffle prizes from brand partners were given away throughout the program. There were gift certificates from Ace Water Spa, Strip, Browhaus, Dermclinic, Krazy Garlic, Serenitea, Subic Grand Seas, Red Mango and SM Parisian. Gifts were also given out! BDJ Girls won notebooks and pens from Havaianas, samples from Celeteque, bag tags, nail art stickers and magazine subscriptions from Cosmopolitan Philippines, shoes from DC, Flipsters and Free Fish, key chains fromSerenitea, andgift bags from Goody, Majolica Majorca and Sharpie.
