The designs coming from Billy and Coleen’s photoshoot in Ethiopia recently went viral

The photoshoot by Billy Crawford and Colleen Garcia held in Ethiopia recently earned them some flak from netizens owing to alleged cultural insensitivity. The couple has since apologized.  The attire worn by the couple also made the rounds online owing to comparison by some netizens to their sofa cover, bags, and floor mats. Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez even chimed in on the issue and posted on IG her selfie with a throw pillow with the same design as the one worn by Billy.

Now, it looks like the design has captured the fancy of an up-and-coming food business franchise which appreciated the mainstream design. Ate Rica’s Bacsilog, which started as a ‘vintage’ brand at de la Salle University has now showcased the floral and prints in their bacon silog to-go cups.

“We saw the design online and we thought they would look good on our Bacsilog cups. I saw these designs myself in Divisoria and thought we’d use them for our limited edition cups. We are encouraging our customers to take a selfie with these specially designed cups, just for fun and to celebrate good design!” said Rica Penalosa, also known as Ate Rica, the food startup’s founder and president.

Ate Rica’s Bacsilog started with Ate Rica as a sidewalk vendor and in just a matter of 7 months has now grown to 14 franchise outlets all over Metro Manila. This food stall business on-the-rise has created quite a following by offering all-day bacon silog to-go topped with their famous special cheese sauce.

They are found at DLSU, Hotel Benilde, University Pad near College of St. Benilde School of Design and the Arts, Far Eastern University, St. Francis Square, KM 17 in Las Pinas, Centro Escolar University, UN Square in Ermita, Worldwide Corp Center, Standard Chartered Bank in Ayala Avenue, University of Makati, Amber Square in San Antonio Village Pasig, University of Sto. Tomas, and at St. Luke’s Quezon City.

The fast-growing food stall business is open to franchise and can be reached through www.bacsilog.com.
