Backyard Burgers: A MUST TRY Burger Place in Quezon City!
When In Manila, there have been a ton of burger restaurants popping up here and there for the past few months and years all claiming to give you an intense burger experience with their own twists and beefy ensembles. From tempting sizes, Wagyu beef patties and a whole bunch of more wild iterations to burgers to soothe the burger monster in all of us. Sadly, near my very location at the heart of Quezon City, it’s been an up and down ride in finding a really memorable burger place.
I know some may think I’m crazy for saying that, but it’s not all about the size, it’s not all about having eggs in between those buns, no pun intended, mind you. It’s all about the taste, the flavor, the experience, the balance and the extremities. It’s all about the compositions that makes a burger truly unique. Oils and buns are huge deal breakers, crumbling patties are an experience buster, these are common things that all these new burger shops are making in error. And finally, finally! I have found a true burger shop in Quezon City that not only corrects all of these burger deal busters, but also gives the best burger taste in Quezon City, in general! I present to you: Backyard Burgers!
Backyard Burgers: Have a Great Burger in Quezon City!
We came to Backyard Burgers with our stomachs ready, and yet not expecting too much. Arriving at Backyard Burgers, it seemed as though that it was just any ordinary burger restaurant due to the logo and it being inside and beside a carwash premise. To our surprise, all of us quipped that Backyard Burgers is the BEST burger place in the Tomas Morato-Timog-Quezon Ave. area! Why? You’ll find out later.
Backyard Burgers is located right across from ABS-CBN along Sgt. Esguerra St. beside Homers. It’s actually sitting right beside and inside the location of the carwash on Sgt. Esguerra. Backyard Burgers is a “Backyard” style burger place that boasts of homemade 100% pure beef patties and homemade burger buns! They are also know for having one of the top 10 Buffalo Wings in the metro!
We were actually stunned by the fact that they had a 1lb burger on the menu. And to add to that, they have mozzarella infused burger patties, as well! Something to die for for burger aficionados like me. To start off this review of Backyard Burgers, I want to begin with Backyard Burgers’ homemade 100% pure beef patties and also their homemade buns. Usually for me, having a bad burger bun ruins the entire burger, no matter how good the patty is. Well, Backyard Burgers have a homemade bun that truly is textured and baked to a crisp brownish-glow. They are delectably perfect with their prime patties, I must say.
The 100% pure beef patties that are homemade are also truly 100% due to how they don’t crumble even when chomping down the huge 1lb double patty burger. Plus, there is a lack of excess oil, which is fantastic! Shows the true quality of a well thought-off and passionately done burger. I have to hand it to Backyard Burgers for nailing the burger basics really well and setting a great standard!
So, let’s begin! We just had to try the Buffalo Wild Wings and they did live up to being one of the best in the metro. It is served along with a bleu cheese dip! The Buffalo Wild Wings of Backyard Burgers don’t go overboard with the sauce all over it, either. It also steers away from excess watering of sauce or oil, which really helps stop the flavour from being too over-bearing on the tongue.
Next up: the Backyard Cheeseburger! Ordered the Obscene size, which has double 1/2lb patties. It’s basically the 1lb patty burger! The generous serving of cheddar cheese with that amazingly addictive Backyard Burgers’ 100% pure beef homemade patties is just so satisfying!
The Heart Attack Burger? Also an obscene size! Actually, looking at the menu, the specialty burgers don’t have any indication of sizes. They are pre-made in 1/2lb patties, but the great thing about Backyard Burgers is that you can have it in the Obscene size, even though it isn’t indicated in the special burgers.
The Heart Attack Burger crispy pork belly is cooked the right way to fit the taste and the experience of the burger really well. The texture of the bacons aren’t too crisp, but not soft, either; which gives an even better experience in feasting on this monster of a burger! Don’t mistake the crispy pork belly to be any bacon!
The other side dishes aside from the Buffalo Wild Wings are also amazingly good! The Cheesy Fries are drizzled with melted cheese and have a great amount of mushrooms to top them off.
The Nachos are also good and are also drizzled with a very, very generous amount of melted cheese and spiced up with Jalapeno peppers.
We also had the Truffle Burger, which is one of the burgers that is already infused with mozzarella cheese in the patty. The mushrooms are Shiitake mushrooms that sits rightfully on top of the cheddar cheese. Yes, you heard that right: mozzarella stuffed patty and cheddar cheese on top! The Shiitake mushrooms really give great character to the burger, even though it already has so much cheese. Sure to make your tongue tickle! Perfect for mushroom and cheese lovers!
Also, each burger can be upgraded into a meal with Iced Tea and thin-cut Onion Rings. Just add P50!
The Godfather Burger is also one of their bestselling burgers which is very interesting due to it adorning pesto! Neat! They make it work and packed filled with flavor and yet, not hitting any too salty or too sour spots. Their burgers really are packed with so much flavor that every single one is very addicting!
The Milkshakes are also something to try. Not too thick, not too watery, good in flavor and texture.
The desserts are also something to behold. They are home-made, too! The Triple Chocolate Cake oozes with chewy chocolate goodness in each bite, yet isn’t too thick in texture to stick on your palette too long. It gives a thick yet very defined texture and layering in flavor.
Heck, even the ice cream is homemade! They have Dulce De Leche With Sea Salt that we badly wanted to try. Unfortunately, they already ran out of it for the day. We tried the Dark Chocolate instead and it really did not disappoint! Pretty amazed at how everything is done perfectly and is homemade to boot!
All in all, I would definitely have to say that Backyard Burgers is the best restaurant in this area of the Metro. Really a burger place with very unique and special qualities that, even if you live far away, you should certainly try and get addicted to the amazing burgers and other dishes that Backyard Burgers has to offer.
They don’t go overboard in sauces and other tricks and gimmicks. They keep it simple, but underneath that semi-simplicity lies a ton of mouth-watering flavors that will blow you off of your feet! The patties are insanely good, matched with incredible homemade burger buns and a genius rapport of burger flavors to enjoy! Hands-down the BEST burgers so far in my palette! If you love burgers, you HAVE TO eat here! By the way, the serve international beers, too, and they have a happy hour promo from 5pm-9pm daily!
