The Ateneo Lingua Ars Cultura (ALAC) will be having its bi-annual mini field trip series, ALACad, this November 4, 2017. Open to all Atenean students, this year’s ALACad promotes the theme of contemporary art in the urban scene, and participants will be visiting Art In Island, Artery Art Space, and the Cubao Expo, all located in the heart of Cubao.
ALACad is a series of field trips wherein students visit various cultural heritage sites and art venues within Luzon to experience colorful Filipino cultures. The event was designed to allow Ateneans to foster a deeper love and appreciation for our local cultures. In the past, ALACad has brought participants to various destinations from places close to home like ABS-CBN studios to sites like the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo.
Beyond the cultural experience, ALACad has also been a platform for developing bonds and friendships among participants as well. According to Jenica Sy, ALAC’s President, “ALACad was a good way to unwind and have fun with friends while still learning new things about our art and culture.” Sy has participated in three ALACad trips since she first became a member of the organization back in 2014.
The Ateneo Lingua Ars Cultura is the premier language, arts, and culture student organization of the Ateneo de Manila University. They have a plethora of events which aim to showcase the value of intercultural exchange while learning to appreciate where we individually come from as well. Ultimately, ALAC believes in bridging cultures, experiencing languages, and celebrating the arts.
