When In Manila, currently on its 34th year, Teatro Tomasino, the first and only university-wide theater guild of the University of Santo Tomas, will be staging its second major production for this academic year entitled, “Ang Mga Filibustero,” on March 12 (4pm 7pm) and March 13 (10am 1pm 4pm 7pm) at the Albertus Magnus Auditorium, University of Santo Tomas. It will be directed by former Teatro Tomasino Artistic Director, Arch. Carlos A. Buendia, Jr.
“Ang Mga Filibustero,” written by Palanca Award-winning playwright and Teatro Tomasino alumnus, Jose Victor Z. Torres, offers a new perspective on Jose Rizal’s “El Filibusterismo,” one that is beyond the usual and learned understanding of it is an “anti-revolutionary” novel. It echoes the national hero’s aspiration and message for the Filipino youth, whom he had famously considered as our nation’s catalysts of change.
