One of the hottest film franchises to hit screens in recent history is the Fifty Shades trilogy, based on the erotic novels written by EL James. In the novels and the films, college graduate Anastasia Steele is swept into the world of bondage, discipline, sadism, and masochism (BDSM) by young business mogul Christian Grey. The third and last installment, Fifty Shades Freed, and we just found out that Anastasia will be wearing a Filipino designer to her wedding!
Her wedding gown is designed by Monique Lhuillier, a fashion designer who has dressed international celebrities like Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Stewart, Lily Collins, America Ferrera, and many more.
For Fifty Shades Freed, the gown features an off-shoulder design in lace and a short train. Lhuillier was tapped by Shay Cunliffe, the film’s costume designer.
This is not the first time Steele has worn Lhuillier. The character (and the actress, Dakota Johnson) has worn the designer in the masquerade ball in Fifty Shades Darker.
In Fifty Shades Freed, Anastasia is adjusting to the glamour of being Mrs. Grey, as well as its BDSM aspect. There are a few road bumps, such as a flirty architect and the return of a former boss, but one thing seems to trump everything: Anastasia is expecting!
The Fifty Shades trilogy began as a fan fiction for Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight, and were composed of Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed. The books were released in 2011 and 2012 to commercial success, with the first novel selling over 125 million copies around the world by June 2015. The first two films were also box office successes.
Fifty Shades Freed will hit theaters on February 9, 2018.
