AMAZING: Filipino Triathlete-Lawyer Swims Across Bohol Sea To Promote Clean Seas

The Philippines has rich marine resources. Much has been done to preserve it and much has been said to raise awareness. While we are aware of these, people are still devoted to spreading marine preservation campaigns.

One of which is a triathlete-lawyer, Ingemar Macarine.

His Facebook post last January 31st said he seized 15.15 kilometers across the Bohol Sea in 5Hours & 59Minutes.

He further stated:

Conquered Bohol Sea (first ever crossing) by swimming from Pamilacan Island to Baclayon, Bohol covering a distance of 15.15KM in 5Hours & 59Minutes. Swim is to promote tourism in Baclayon and for clean seas & beaches. Thank you Baclayon Mayor Alvin Uy, VMayor Jodel Cabahug, and IBP Bohol headed by Atty. Ted Lagang. And to my 2 skillful navigators Edwin Dela Cruz and Roel Catoto, my undying gratitude. This is the toughest swim to date because of very strong current, which changed direction 14 times, and big waves brought about by the Northeast Monsoon.

As stated by the Philippine Star, Macarine had performed similar actions and dominated the seas of Cebu, Surigao del Norte, Cagayan and California to promote and protection the marine resources.

What an amazing and dedicated person! You are indeed the “Pinoy Aquaman.”
