It’s the end of an era: Adventure Time is ending soon.
But the good news is that its last season will be its ninth, which will air in 2018. For the record, the show is on its seventh season, with its last two episodes to be announced. The last episode, S07E37, aired July 7.
Another good news: its ninth season will have 142 half-hours of content, including episodes, miniseries, specials, and more. It is currently in production.
Adventure Time tells the story of the human Finn and his best friend, the dog Jake. It is set in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, and deals with their interactions with its citizens, like the Ice King, Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen, and Lumpy Space Princess. The show has been praised for its humor and imagination, drawing kid and adult fans. It is also a popular cosplay choice.
Since it premiered in 2010, Adventure Time has won six Emmy Awards.
According to Cartoon Network’s chief content officer Rob Sorcher, “Adventure Time changed the definition of what a kids’ TV series could be, and it’s had a resounding impact upon popular culture around the world.”
