When asked about the beautiful places in the Philippines, Boracay, Palawan, and Cebu are usually at the tip of our tongues. Our minds wander to these usual destinations but we don’t even realize that tucked away in the heart of Bolinao, Pangasinan is a hotspot that you will yearn to come back for.
A solitary white sand beach and a resort filled with beautiful gardens are what lie waiting in Puerto Del Sol. Surprisingly, this well-hidden resort is only 5-6 hours away from the busy streets of Manila. You don’t even need a plane ticket to get there! Moreover, the resort is very private so you won’t worry about looking for a spot to get some peace and quiet.
So. What to do in Puerto Del Sol?
6. Get the best sleep ever in their cozy TREEHOUSE VILLAS
During my vacation in Puerto Del Sol, I had the chance to stay in one of their upscale treehouse villas. Being there took me back to my childhood memories where I would pretend to live in a treehouse underneath the stars—except this time, I could actually do it.
Our villa also had a balcony with a great view of the ocean. It’s a shame not everyone can wake up to that sight every morning. In the three days I stayed there, I made it my morning routine to go to the balcony (even in my pajamas), inhale deeply and look far into the horizon. It instantly put my mind in a peaceful state.
Aside from the extremely comfy room, there is also an area downstairs which has a table set and a hammock. This is perfect for bonding over some food and drinks or taking an afternoon siesta if you’re feeling lazy.
5. Float away in their gorgeous pools by the garden
Another thing to love about Puerto Del Sol is their picturesque pools. The topmost photo in this article is the main pool–the biggest one in the resort. Not seen in the photo is the mini-waterfall in the pool area. If you stand underneath it, the relaxing pressure of the water against your back is exactly like a hydro massage!
The two photos below, on the other hand, are the pools near Sitio Amore, the more modernized villas. It has a great view of the ocean, making it look like an infinity pool.
4. Release your tension & get a massage in a bahay kubo
Puerto Del Sol is a relaxation destination. The resort has hot tubs and massage services that will really get you to unwind and get rid of all your stress. One can even opt to get a massage in the bahay kubo in the middle of the main pool area! Not bad, if you ask me.
3. Get sun-kissed at the white sand beach
If the accommodations and the amenities of Puerto Del Sol haven’t gotten you packing your bags and booking the next available room, then let their white sand beach speak for itself.
The long stretch of fine white sand and clear blue green waters will captivate you and leave your mouth hanging open. Their white sand beach could easily compete with Boracay. Though it’s not as soft, it might even be much cleaner and surely more depopulated. If you want to get that perfect summer photo, there is no threat of random strangers photo bombing your pictures!
The beach can get pretty low tide especially during late in the afternoon. Most people walk to the sand bar to watch the sky slowly turn pitch black.
You could be meters away from the shore, but the water would still be just a few inches above your ankles. It’s as if you’re getting front row seats to watch the sunset.
2. Bonding moments through OUTDOOR & INDOOR ACTIVITIES!
If you’re going to Puerto Del Sol with friends or officemates, there are SO many things that you can do. The resort has several activities to suit your interests. If you like the outdoors, you can choose to play by the beach (volleyball, kayaking, frisbee & etc.).
If you’re more of the indoor type, there is a game center where you can play billiards, table tennis, chess and other board games! Finding something to do is the last thing that will worry you.
1. Have amazing dining experiences at Cafe Del Sol and Lap Laya Restaurant
In Filipino culture, all occasions call for some good food! What’s better than that? Well, it’s good food and a great ambiance. The restaurants in Puerto Del Sol know how to set the mood right. Cafe Del Sol was lovely. The flowers, the parasols, and the outdoor set-up made the dining area seem as if it came straight from an Italian movie scene.
Lap Laya Restaurant felt more cultural. This dining area was overlooking the beach. The best time to eat here is when the sun is just about to set. You can watch the sky change colors as you munch on their delicious meals!
Overall, I would say Puerto Del Sol deserves much more hype than it gets! The place may not be very cheap but it’s definitely worth the visit. You’re sure to have a full heart and a golden state of mind when you get to this summer haven in Bolinao, Pangasinan.
Time to make your own memories! Happy Travels!
