Nail It! Weekend: Prizes, Pedicures and Ultimate Girly Pampering

When in Manila, on a gloomy Saturday afternoon, I went on a trip to the Nail It! salon and came home with more than just tastefully decorated fingertips.

The latest branch of the Nail It! salon just opened its doors to a bunch of the most influential and Kikay girls online and I was lucky enough to spend my Saturday afternoon with them.

It’s always difficult to begin writing a review knowing you have people to please. Though who can ever say anything negative about a trip to the nail salon? It’s every girl’s dream. Some can’t even go through the week without getting a mani-pedi. Besides the luxury and excitement of having painted nails, it’s the hygienic aspect hidden behind it that makes it so addicting and absolutely necessary.

But you see, I’m the type of girl who likes to do all sorts of crazy things with my hands ( No pun intended) so I barely get my nails done and polished. They usually chip off after a day or two.

What I usually settle for is the DIY pedicure that I give myself whenever I’ve got free time. Normally mani-pedi’s in specialized nail salons range from 300-400 pesos, which you can utilize in a maximum of a week, though I’ve heard recent developments on long lasting polishes nowadays.

But my point is, getting your nails done can cost you around 10 bottles of local polish and a couple of those international ones. If you do them yourself, you can save pretty darn much. That’s something to think about right?

Though I understand that the feeling of getting pampered is more appealing and the best way to enjoy the value for your money is to go to an affordable salon that will give you the luxurious treatment that you well deserve.

Last Saturday, I was invited to Nail It!’s latest branch opening at Alphaland Southgate mall. With a slumber party theme, everyone came in their cutest pajamas armed with every bit of girly hormones in them.

Aside from the fact that I was so excited cause I haven’t been to a slumber party in years and the idea of being in comfy sleepwear amongst the company of hailed fashionistas and how they’d put a twist to the unique theme, I was excited to experience Nail It! for it would’ve been my first time to experience any of their services.

What slumber party would be complete without sweet treats?

What I look for in a nail salon are comfy seats, a good polish set, and accommodating staff. And I must say Nail It!’s got a triple check on my list.

I like it when employees (or people in general) respond with their own opinions in relation to the product that they are selling. I had a good conversation with my manicurist who also gave me tips on how to make my polish last. She also asissted me and made sure my nails didn’t get ruined for the succeeding events, which I really appreciated.

It was a great day of games, pampering and making friends dedicated solely for girls.

I decided to write this post late because I wanted to test the quality of my manicure. Aside from a teeny chip on the top of my middle finger nail, the polish remained in tact after a good five days. She used Orly on me, a good quality nail polish. They also utilize brands such as OPI and Essie, which really means you can get your money’s worth.

As I had mentioned, I made sure they were really dry before I joined the activities which were a whole lot of fun and triggered my competitive side.

That’s the worst part in getting your nails done, after a luxurious experience comes the agonizing 30 mins of being a bit paralyzed and uneasy and having to be extra careful when wearing your shoes/slippers. Which is why shoes like my Flipsters come in very handy.

These are foldable slippers that you can bring anywhere allow you to get your nails done anytime anywhere, which are readily available in a few Nail It! branches.

My first Nail It! experience was a blast and I’d surely like a second round (or more). For a kuripot and practical woman like me, who always tries to find cheap alternatives, I can say that Nail it doesn’t do much damage to me financially and I was pretty happy with the service. A mani-pedi at Php220? Not bad, right?  I’m eager to try their other services, especially the Eyelash Extensions.

When in Manila, and looking for affordable luxury, don’t miss out on a trip to one of Nail it!‘s 11 branches!
