A MOM’S LAST WISH: Help This Mom Create Happy Memories for Her Children

“Cancer, that damn slayer,” a friend posted, catching my attention. She was appealing for help for someone dear to her, a mother who is now trying to pack in as many memories as she can muster with the time she had been told she had left for her two girls aged 5 and 7.

This mother’s name is Nicki Nubla Garcia. Let me tell you her story in her own words:

My name is Nicki. In 2014 my life was perfect, I was married to my soul mate Lee, and Mother to my two beautiful daughters Leeia and Kaylee, they are the loves of my life. I was also working at a job I loved and my life was blessed.

A mom's last wish - Nicki Nubla Garcia with her family

That same year, we were all shocked and devastated when I was diagnosed with Stage 3B cervical cancer, I was 29 years old. I had numerous cycles of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and finally, in an effort to rid myself of this cancer forever, I had pelvic exenteration surgery, I was determined to be there as my girls grew up. After the surgery I was in remission, hopeful for the future and able to enjoy my life once again. Even though I could not return to work as there were many hospitalizations for complications, life was good.

In December last year, though, a time that should be the happiest time of the year, she received the news that her cancer had returned and metastasized to her lungs. There is no cure. She was told that she has only a year left to live.

I want to make it the greatest – I want to make memories with my husband and children.

Nicki is hoping to travel and visit some special places with her daughters and husband–but with all the medical expenses, she cannot afford it. She wishes to take her children on a fun trip so they can “just be children, fairy princesses without a care in the world.” If possible, she would also like to return to her birthplace, the Philippines, and see her family.

Her other wish is to seek treatment through a Naturopath Physician. She is hoping that it will provide her the physical strength to live each day to the fullest. With any remaining funds, she wishes to ease the financial burden for her family, to set up an educational fund for her girls and help with the funeral expenses when she passes away.

So here she is now asking for your help.

I wake up each day and give thanks to God for my family and friends and the support I receive and I am living each day like it is my last. Time is running out, and I would like to travel while I still feel well enough. I want to make these memories for my husband and my girls. I am so very grateful that you took the time to read this and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity.
