A Day of Fun Drive in the City with the Ford EcoSport

One fine day, we were invited by Ford Philippines to get immersed into some fun city driving with their EcoSport.

You see, the Ford EcoSport is the company’s popular subcompact SUV that will allow you to squeeze through Metro Manila traffic. Also, it’s relatively light on the budget, making it suitable for young go-getters who are looking for a reliable car.

Our launch pad was at Ford Makati. We started early in the morning, driving through the usual city traffic en route to Art in Island Museum in Cubao. EDSA was our enemy while the EcoSport was our artillery.

Since we were heading northbound, it was a good time to drive actually because we were going against the more traffic-jammed southbound route of EDSA. We experienced a few stops here and there but that’s just due the usual. In here, we realized how easy it was to maneuver the EcoSport. We were able to squeeze into narrow spaces to get to Cubao safe and sound. However, we noticed that the car does not accelerate as powerfully as a full-blown SUV. But we can do away with that since it’s still reasonably swift.

We have driven an EcoSport before, so we’re not new to the car’s bells and whistles. It’s fun to get re-acquainted with the Ford SYNC feature, which gives the car capability to understand commands via voice. With safety in mind and with the Anti-Distracted Driving Law in place, Ford SYNC definitely comes in handy.

Ford SYNC lets you do simple commands like playing the radio, reading a message, or making a call. Nifty.

After Art in Island, we headed to our next stop and drove to Kapitolyo in Pasig. We had lunch there, at Cow & Chicken. After filling up, we took a quick drive to Trampoline Manila in Greenfield District, which was around 10 minutes, considering some traffic along the way.

Well, we had to burn all that food we ate anyway.

After jumping and running on the trampolines, Ford Philippines show us the Black Edition of the EcoSport. If the regular EcoSport isn’t sleek enough for you, this one may be.

Then, we were tested to fit as many soda cans into the compartments of the EcoSport. Do you know how many can properly fit? It’s 24 soda cans.

The last leg of our drive was towards the place where we had dinner. From Greenfield District, we braved the traffic to Toyo Eatery along Chino Roces Extension in Makati. We passed through Bonifacio Global City. The restaurant serves unique food that are actually tasty. For one, this dish contains all the veggies in the song “Bahay Kubo”.

It was a fun day to drive around the city and the Ford EcoSport is a trustworthy companion nonetheless. It may seem tame on the road but it is actually fast. Best of all, it may be small to allow you to weave easily on tight streets but it doesn’t compromise its looks. Plus, it is really comfy to drive.
