It’s been over a year ago when I last visited Macampao. Located in the lesser known parts of Zambales, Macampao can be found in the small town of Cabangan. Owned by the Felix Family, Macampao served as their rest house where they usually unwind with friends and relatives. Soon after realizing the property’s potential, Macampao opened to the public offering a sweet escape for those who are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city. It is also a perfect place for weddings, team buildings, and other special celebrations.

As soon as you enter the property, you will be welcomed by trees, plants, and flowers. Surrounded by rice fields, Macampao is like a flourishing garden where you can definitely catch some fresh air.

Whether you want the view of the sea or the mountains, Macampao offers both. From one of their accommodations at the fish pond area, you get a beautiful, unobstructed view of the mountains. You can open the window to hear the chirping of the birds and whistling of the wind.

When staying at Macampao, you are assured that you only get the freshest foods—from rice, seafood, fruits, and vegetables. The seafood comes straight from their fish pond, while the fruits and shakes are also picked just before your meals are served.

With their design, Macampao made sure that you will feel one with nature. The houses are made mostly from reclaimed wood—even their furniture! It perfectly blends with the naturistic ambiance of the whole property.
4. Relaxing accomodations
Macampao’s accommodations are neither overwhelming nor underwhelming. No fancy decors or flimsy beds here. Just perfect comfort. The rooms have either a queen bed or two double beds, a bedside table with lamp, closet, and air conditioning. The bathrooms have toiletries from Human Nature and even some repellant.
They have different accommodation types available—Balay Salamin, Casa Logoy, Kuwarto Pawikan, and Cabanas de Ambay. You can choose depending on what you need or how many will be sharing the rooms.
3. Fun activities
Aside from lounging around, there are so many things to do at Macampao. You can go kayaking, rafting in the pond, fishing, biking, fruit picking, carabao-riding, volleyball, frisbee, and play board games, too. You can even get a massage.
If you will be fishing or fruit picking, you pay your harvest or catch by the kilo. It’s the perfect way to get some pasalubong!

Unlike in chaotic Manila, Macampao offers wide open spaces in the property. Because the owner carefully manages the booking, you are assured that you can always find a place where you can kick back and relax. You never have to worry about huge crowds!

Of course, a resort wouldn’t be complete without a beach area. Macampao faces the West Philippine Sea, giving guests beautiful waves and relaxing fresh air. It is also the home of some turtles, so if you are lucky, you may be able to see some!
There are places we keep coming back to. It is not just because of its beauty but because some places give us a sense of peace. Most of the time, these places bring us joy and healing. Or, sometimes, it just feels like we belong.
