5th DasmariƱas Model United Nations

The 5th DasmariƱas Model United Nations, co-organized by the Development Studies Program Council and the Political Science Program Council, will take place this coming May 10-12, 2017 from 9 AM to 4 PM at the De La Salle University-DasmariƱas. More than a hundred high school and college students, as well as young professionals from different schools and universities, are expected to gather together in this 3-day intense and exciting United Nations simulation conference.

Through its theme, Collective Action towards Achieving a World of Peace, Security, and Sustainability, the Secretariat of the 5th DMUN seeks to engage its participants in a forum where they could use and develop their abilities to create solutions to pressing issues.

Delegates will represent their assigned countries as ambassadors and state their position, debate on pressing issues and forge short term and long term solutions to the problem at hand. The topics to be discussed per committee are the following:

  1. General Assembly: a) Global Efforts to Combat Climate Change and b) Advancing the Role of Youth on Sustainable Development
  2. Security Council: a) Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and b) International Action on Preventing and Combating Terrorism
  3. Human Rights Council: a) Humanitarian Crisis in South Sudan and b) Human Rights Situation in Yemen
