Sometimes, all that you need in Manila is some good music to keep your sanity intact. These past few months, a lot of great artists have visited the country — from YouTube sensations like Jeremy Passion to indie bands like Paper Kites, The 1975, and Last Dinosaurs to more mainstream artists like Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars. This week, I am extremely glad that they have finally considered bringing more YouTube superstars to the country, and I am so stoked to look forward to the musical genius of Kurt Schneider and the awesome Sam Tsui.

1) Their taste in music is impeccable.
Kurt and Sam are known for covering top hits, but what I admire the most about them is the fact that they don’t just cover anything. They choose their pieces carefully and create different arrangements for them, making their covers truly stand out from the usual.
2) Their music is totally eargasmic.
What I love about Kurt Schneider is the fact that he picks up old songs, puts them together, and creates a new piece that will make you stand up on your feet and dance. Sam, on the other hand, is more of a balladeer and his angelic voice definitely makes every cover and song shine at their brightest. Put these two together and you’ll definitely have the time of your life.
3) Their mash-ups are the awesomest of them all.
Kurt and Sam are both known for creating different mash-ups. One of my personal favourites is Kurt’s arrangement for Maroon 5, where he created a 4-minute song out of all of the band’s top hits. The fluidity and musicality of the song is so perfect that you’ll definitely feel yourself effortlessly singing along in no time, despite the fact that each part of the track actually came in from different melodies and songs.
4) They are both undeniably good-looking.
Look at Sam’s face. Look at Kurt’s smile. Need I say more?
5) They make beautiful music.
If you are craving for something good, then you should definitely check out their YouTube pages. When I first got hooked onto their music, I remember staying in front of my laptop for three hours straight during the wee hours, just binging on their YouTube videos. Music is beautiful, but the effort and the passion that these two bring to the table is definitely something else. It isn’t even the talent, the face value, or the equipment that makes them stand out — it’s their passion and love for the craft that lets them create something wonderful.
