Don’t you love pigs? And I don’t mean that in the gastronomical sense. A growing population of pig lovers is now proudly sharing photos and videos of their piggies to the world through social media. They love their pigs like they were their own kids, the same way pet lovers love their dogs and cats as family. And their pigs love them back! This is not surprising as pigs are very smart. Studies show that the pigs most people in the world love to have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner may actually have the intelligence of a three-year-old child. Imagine that.
Anyway, the first social media-savvy piggie I encountered online was Esther, The Wonder Pig. Back in 2012, her two dads thought they were getting a micro pig but as the months and years went by, Esther got bigger and bigger until she was pushing 650 pounds! The dads who loved Esther like a daughter had to reevaluate their lives for her sake. They moved out of their house, swore off bacon, and started a sanctuary for abused and abandoned farm animals.
I have followed their heartwarming journey through the years.
