4th University Scholars Leadership Symposium

 

Manila Symposium 2013 (UK Secretariat)

Humanitarian Affairs, United Kingdom will host the 4th University Scholars Leadership Symposium in Manila, Philippines from August 1 to 7, 2013. The Symposium is supported by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Philippines Commission of Higher Education.The World Vision, Habitat for Humanity and Save the Children will organise the Learning Journey Program during the Symposium .

Humanitarian Affairs is a member of the World Association of Non-Governmental Organisation and the World Alliance for Citizens Participation. It initiates and supports humanitarian relief efforts and developmental programs in countries that are poverty stricken and disaster-prone.

The event will see a culmination of some 1,000 young people discussing issues pertaining to humanitarian matters. We will provide leadership development and motivation training to further nurture the youths to reach their full potential.

This annual event hosted by Humanitarian Affairs United Kingdom is an international humanitarian and leadership conference that equips the youth with the necessary skills and exposure to do carry out humanitarian and sustainable community efforts.

Speaking at the event will be the CNN Heroes for the year 2011 and 2012, a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, a Skoll Foundation Awardee for Social Entrepreneurship, world-renowned motivational trainers and others who complete the Manila Symposium 2013’s line up of experts.

A social action plan competition, called the Voice in Social Change, will provide its winners with seed money for their proposals and mentorship from Humanitarian Affairs and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
