If there is anything that led to the third Filipina Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s win, it was being in the right place at the right time… take it from a veteran herself, 1973 Miss Universe Margie Moran!!
At Pia’s homecoming special at the Araneta Coliseum, the former titleholder said that it was Pia’s maturity and destiny that led her to the crown. Pia joined the Binibining Pilipinas competition three times, before finally clinching the title on her third try. Her experiences as being a breadwinner while growing up helped her with the maturity that she possesses today, according to Moran.
Miss Moran also had some very nice things to say about her successor!
“She speaks with wisdom, and I think that gives her also the confidence, and loving whatever she does… and having a definite advocacy gives her very good qualities representing our country, the Philippines, this day.”
It’s so touching to see these beauty queens uplifting each other!
