10 Millennial Loveteams We Get Kilig Over

What’s not to love about love teams? Put a good-looking guy and girl together, and then watch them stare into each other’s eyes. Love teams are such a huge hit in the Philippines that they’ve basically been there since time immemorial.

Over the years, we’ve been blessed with swoon-worthy tandems: there was Guy-Pip, Sharon-Gabby, Dawn-Richard, Aga-Lea, Bobby-Angelu, Marvin-Jolina, Claudine-Rico, Kristine-Jericho, John Lloyd-Bea… you get the picture. Some of these stars have since moved on to work with other co-stars in different projects, while some continue to charm the masses with their lovable chemistry.

This generation is no exception to the love team magic, and now, a new set of love teams is set to provide that dose of kilig to a new generation. Here are just some of our favorite millennial love teams!

Joshlia

Joshlia is one of those love teams that completely took us by surprise, and then captured us immediately. First paired in the movie Vince and Kath and James, even if Julia Barretto technically had two leading men in the movie, fans immediately took notice of the chemistry between Julia and Joshua Garcia. Fast forward a year later and they have truly tugged audiences’ heartstrings with the Antoinette Jadaone-helmed Love You to the Stars and Back. Joshlia is definitely poised to rise as a superstar tandem.

Kathniel

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla have been teen royalty for a while now, and as the two enter their twenties, they only become bigger and better as they take on more mature projects. First capturing teens’ hearts in cutesy, wholesome teenybopper shows, Kathniel was originally paired together in the teen series Growing Up, until they completely made us swoon in the show, Princess and I. They went on to star in consecutive hit shows, gradually shifting to more mature, dramatic projects such as Barcelona: A Love Untold, Pangako Sa’Yo, and now, La Luna Sangre.

Mclisse

In the Pinoy Big Brother house, love teams come and go, but it seems that Mclisse is truly meant to become something special, going the way of iconic post-PBB loveteams such as Kimerald. Elisse Josson and Hashtags’ McCoy de Leon found reel love due to their effortless chemistry while inside the PBB House, quickly earning them fans. Elisse, who had just starred in a heartbreaking fast food commercial before entering the House, even ended up doing a sequel of that commercial, this time with Mccoy. The two have since released their own single, landed the cover of a magazine with a shoot in Turkey, and currently appear on the show The Good Son.

Jadine

There’s no doubt about it: Jadine is one of the hottest loveteams today. The two had quite an unconventional start, first starring alongside each other on the movie Diary ng Panget, without any prior project together. Yet there was clearly something special about the two that quickly earned them a following. Three years later, and the two have since grown into a mature team-up, delighting their “Jadine” fans when they turned their relationship from reel to real. The two have also redefined #relationshipgoals with their enviable feed and travel adventures on Instagram!

Lizquen

A post shared by Liza Soberano (@lizasoberano) on

Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil dazzled viewers in the hit soap “Forevermore”, where Liza played a “strawberry queen” in Benguet, while Enrique was a rich hotel heir from Manila. It’s the typical heaven-and-earth story, where two opposites collide and fall for each other, but Liza and Enrique just give it that special spark. Their loveteam came as a special surprise — Liza is six years younger than Enrique and has never had a boyfriend, let alone another loveteam partner, while Quen had been in the industry since 2008, being paired with starlet after starlet. Yet the two just have that certain magic that’s rare among celebrity tandems, that they keep the public guessing if they’re in a real relationship or not.

Aldub

They’re the love team that took the whole country by storm, and audiences continue to fall in love with Aldub as they appear daily on the noontime show Eat! Bulaga, where they first appeared. What was so phenomenal about Aldub was that they were an “accidental” love team, after Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (who plays Yaya Dub) appeared on the show separately. A chance encounter and a “pabebe wave” later, Aldub soon broke records with their “Tamang Panahon” concert. The two have since starred in their own movie, Imagine You and Me, and their own TV show, Destined to be Yours. The two will soon star their TV movie, “Love Is…”.

Marnigo

Talented music duo Marnigo have quickly earned their share of fans, after they continue to heat up the stage with every performance. Their “My Boo” number racked up over 1 million views, as the two definitely bring some kilig vibes with their chemistry. Just watch one of their videos and try not to feel shivers down your spine. Marnigo had their first acting debut on an MMK episode, and we’re sure great things are coming this loveteam’s way!

Mayward

Starting out as PBB housemates on the Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Seven season, there’s just something about Maymay Entrata and Edward Barbers that makes us kilig every time they’re onscreen. The two have already starred in their own movie, Loving In Tandem, and we can’t help but fawn over Maymay’s comedic girl-next-door timing and Edward’s pretty boy looks. When the two appeared like the perfect couple at the Star Magic Ball, we definitely swooned!

Biguel

Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix are really shaping up to be such a promising love team! The couple appears together at Mulawin vs. Ravena and like their show, their pairing is just so magical! Like many love teams, the two seriously look good together and have such a natural chemistry that anyone watching them would swoon. It’s no surprise then that the two are possibly dating each other in real life, as the sweetness just comes so naturally to them!
